Thanks for that… :+1:

I like a bit of Balmorhea, it’s an interesting signing for the label. They’re really moving with the times.

Good shout

That’s a banger and what a video!

Unique music is few & far between but the divine chamber choir vocals, animistic Lithuanian folk and ambient electronic fusion of Merope for granvat, whilst written seems somewhat convoluted, in reality sounds most natural & utterly magical.

Just as the world needs them most along come Spain’s Kosmische supergroup, Mecánica Clásica on Abstrakce Records. Surfing guitar & percussion augmented, rhythmic ambient waves of wisdom gleaned from ancient Mediterranean civilisations, to aid the helpless supermarket & internet reliant masses struggling to come to terms with nature’s warning shots.

These “reviews” are a copy and paste, from my social media/blog recommendations by the way, just in case you’re wondering what the hell is going on

Sometimes the artists just say it better, so check out the “lizard lounge jazz and French noir sleaze with sinking ship piano improvisations in underwater organ suits” of Teeth Agency on @stonesthrow. This also gets Artist Name+LP Title combination of the week award :grinning:

Nailah Hunter is a West Coast gem. In fact I love that whole Leaving records New Age crew.

This LP on Luaka Bop could have gone very wrong instead it went very, very right. Floating Points on the controls, Pharoah Sanders on his horn - still going strong after all these years, & The London Symphony Orchestra on everything else. A peace & love filled audio antidote to the angst of the last 12 months.

If you’ve had a tough week how does the Japanese art of forest bathing (森林浴) sound? Well if you’re city bound & lockdown tied the next best thing is to soak your feet in the New Age sonic waters emanating from the ever warm thermals springs of Cudighi Records.

Two of ambient’s finest, Ian Hawgood & Craig Tattersall, unite their electroacoustic, field recording & tape degenerated world with the experimentally printed world view of Miho Kajioka, to produce an exquisitely packaged AV treat for the the ever wonderful IIKKI.

On a cold midweek night during my spell in Berlin I found myself in a random bar gladdened to discover they had live music on & then somewhat nonplussed to find out it was an upright bass soloist. By the time this lone jazzer had finished I was chastened, wiser & put €10 in the hat. Hopefully you’ll feel the same way after listening to the new Petros Klampanis LP.

I buy shed loads of new music. A vast majority of it house and techno. Unfortunately I have no idea of the age of the producers as I care little of who they are to be totally honest. One of the reasons I loved house so much was because once upon a time nobody gave a shit what those making it looked like and that was ace.

I am very fond of the whole house/techno scene from Romania (in main, I hate calling it rominimal but genres stick) and loads of those producers have the same healthy ethos. They shun social media, release music under several different monikers and quite often just as an unknown artist. For all I know the records I buy and tracks
I download could be made by some fresh faced 19 year old or by my 100 year old granny. I don’t really care. If it is my granny then she is cooler than I thought. On the flip there are lots of producers out there who I wouldn’t have hesitated buying their music in the past but now I don’t hesitate in even bothering to listen to clips as they are so stuck in the past it is cringey (is that a word?)

I get misty eyed as the rest some days but also love new stuff, probably moreso. I am a bit disappointed if I go out and recognise too many records a DJ is playing. My wife will be testament to that as I drag her to the underground to listen to Rhadoo play record after record that I have no idea of what they are. She is amazed at how the deepest, most unusual records he plays will be the ones I am fixated on whilst the rest of the dancefloor clears.

So to sum it up I can’t help you with this thread haha.
