This is such a great listen. Thanks for linking up. The reissue game never fails to surprise me with the quality of albums that these labels unearth.
This is sounding pretty damn fine to my ears
what’s the 3rd track og?
No idea, sorry.
Liking this. Slow dubby vibes. Whole lp is worth a listen.
“Stylistically, it’s almost as if the duo was imagining what an early This Mortal Coil demo might have sounded like had Ivo enlisted in lieu of the usual cast, with a pared back L’Empire Des Sons as the session band, and June Hardin or a young Julee Cruise on lead vocals.”
Oooo, putting that in the diary. It seems like Bradley used the Covid downtime well the label is really developing, I’m looking forward to this as well:
Ditching the Ethio sounds, JJ Whitfield & crew head to the other side of Africa with his new LP for @nowagain Records and drops a defiantly vintage yet timeless LP of psychedelic Afro funk rock that is going to be a ton of fun to check live.
Float & shimmy your way into the week as @tristanarp_ injects a few glitch leaning riddims into his aquatic ambient & future New Age world to provide a bit of gentle bump and grind to this otherwise peaceful, mind soothing transmission for @wisdomteethuk
Oakland’s Inner Islands label continue their mission to pacify the masses with 3 new pleasingly hazy & lazy transmissions, the New Age nebula, cosmic country & ambient acoustics of the @GoldenBrownCO LP being my pick, but check out the rest too.
belated thanks for this - lovely stuff!
Dive into the ambient shadows of Kelman Duran’s weighty, weightless & wild exploration of immigrant angst & stoicism in the face of the populist plagues, free jazz, 20’s disquietude, sound sculptures, calls to arms, stirring strings, tears, beat culture & ultimately hope. This album is important, don’t ignore it.
Loving this lead single from Miso Extra’s debut EP ‘Great Taste’ out on Beatnik Creative.
This has been on repeat today. Brand new remix of Desmond Chambers “Haly Gully” by Toby Tobias. This has got everything i like about music (almost) put into one song. He deconstructs the original and build up a totally new and unique remix which is full of detail and dubwise moves reminding me of Mad Professor and mid 90’s Disciples. It can easily be played alongside 90’s downtempo Techno like the stuff on that recent MFM comp too. The man is nothing short of a genius!
That’s cracking!
This release is one I’ve been super excited about for a while. I like the Toby Tobias remix. It’s very decent as a stand-alone track. The OG was all I was really interested in. So good.
Love this track, too, but the main version on this release sounds a little juiced up, compared to some other ones out there. Did the label do something to the original version to make it sound more contemporary?
