Where's Music At?

True, maybe admin can change the title to clarify if the thread is evolving (2021 will soon sound a bit dated), though I’m sure people will soon get the hang of things. I’m up for a top quality reissue, though I’m mostly on a new music mission personally.

apparently, you don’t have to be an admin to edit thread titles…

how’s that, now there’s no “dating” of the thread…?

It’s not a reissue actually it is new mixes of classic Bunny Lee rhythms with Barry Brown singing. Basically longer and wilder dub mixes with some added instrumentation. If dub of the more traditional kind is your thing give it a listen it was much better than i thought.

Pressure Sounds are a fantastic label, their depth of knowledge and love for the music really stands out. Great prices too which helps.

I used to buy a few Pressure Sounds releases 10+ years ago when the shop i was working with used to stock them. I more or less stopped buying comps and/or reissues sometime around 2015 as i never played them out. This the latest Barry Brown is different though as it is new mixes made in italy during the past year which i thought were surprisingly good.

I’ve moved away from most comps - I find I just don’t listen to them as often as I thought I would. Anthology put out some brilliant comps and I do buy them, but I think I get drawn in by the artwork and effort put into them more than the music itself…maybe.

It really is. Such a good LP

This is absolutely amazing.

I realize Paul did a review of this on TP, but it deserves to be here because it’s quite good!

Favourite jazz LP of the year! Check out this live recording from earlier in the year if you want some more of the same.

I’ve been playing the singles on the show & am happy to report the Vanishing Twin LP for Fire Records surpasses expectations. There’s a real Afrojazzfunk rhythmic undertow dragging this vintage cinematic, Kosmische keeled, psychedelic avant pop ship to the outer reaches, away from easy classification & just about every 2021 "best of list if there’s any justice. The fact Macolm Catto was heavily involved explains a lot!

If you fancy some restorative vibes, tender tones, soothing notes & general all round ambient warmth to soundtrack your midweek lull then the new SineRider LP for sound in silence is your new friend. Nothing new (what is?) but a reassuring familiarity & definite quality - lovely stuff.

Remarkable lost album from 1981 now reissued.

“They followed a path of their own, reaching for an otherworldly sound that they heard from artists like John Martyn, David Crosby, Erik Satie, Terry Riley, Eberhard Weber, Alice Coltrane, and Ralph Towner. They experimented combining their acoustic guitars and David’s bass with various effects pedals and techniques to try and achieve a warm and expansive sound that rides the line between ambient, jazz, and psychedelic folk Music.”

Simply amazing. Unfortunately seems all vinyl copies sold out here.

It sounds like it came from some sort of post summer of love West Coast new age commune rather than Manchester - lovely stuff.

Assembling a dream team of soul jazz collaborators Scrimshire channels their shining lights into a spiritual leaning, orchestra nu-jazz world in one of the most positive meditations on the age of virus I’ve heard so far for Albert’s Favourites.
