Where's Music At?

Pull up a stool in the Local Visions lounge bar with AOTQ on the keys & marvel at the smooth synths, easy electronic jazz, slow hop and lazy lounge mingling amiably, clinking lemon twisted Martinis and nibbling on salmon blinis without a care in the world.

The new Auf Togo LP for Sounds and Sons is a funk fueled, good natured, chugging & hugging trippy affair. Aimed at the head & slow moving hips, it sits comfortably in the middle of the dancefloor on a sofa nodding it’s head with a smile waiting for the pills to work & the club to fill up.

Freeing himself of any traditional Brazilian music responsibility has really paid dividends for Fabiano Nascimento & Now Again Records. In a meditative free thinking mood he focused on sound rather than structure & crafted a more minimal, abstract, ambient leaning six stringed world for the thinkers & dreamers rather than the dancers & singers. Listen on Bandcamp today, streaming tomorrow I guess.

With help from Karaoke Kalk, Mimsy scavenge & mould sonic fragments into a wayward, yet warm & welcoming world outside reality tunnel constraints & away from human folly, but thoughtfully scatter the route with folk, acid pop & kindly vocal snippets to guide you back in case the endless possibilities are too bewildering.

Yeah it’s a nice album. He’s an interesting artist too. There’s a documentary about him running for City Council in Texas…

I like artists with that sort of gumption, usually means their music has a bit more depth and thoughtfullness…

A fiine dreamy selections and you’ve got to love animals floating in space :slightly_smiling_face:

Really liking the A K Paul tune! Pity he doesn’t seem to be putting out much music …

Ignoring the cries to rush to streaming stardom, Cindy take a longer term view & instead take a sedate, nonchalant stroll through the world of folk glazed indie pop for Tough Love Records, that will still sound good & get plays in 2050 when this month’s stars have long since stopped shining.

Unhurried, travel wisened world weary jazz meets cine noir soundtracks, as grey electronic skis and the occasional rumbling of feedback loom in this low-lit but compelling LP from Trigg & Gusset for Preserved Sound.

If you ever need a comforting arm around your shoulder then hit play on the new Constant Follower LP for Shimmy-Disc. Unhurried folk & thoughtful ambient pop snuggle up to his palliative vocal tones which exude quiet yet confident reassurance & a contentment with just being. An utterly charming LP.

The new LP from Loess for n5md is a slowtronic gem, where machine rhythms encourage the dense, slow moving ambient clouds to part occasionally allowing glimmers of familiar sounds & melody to light up the sombre yet captivating soundscapes.

Celebrating the rural idyll, Igor Yalivek plants his bucolic synth sounds with natural field recordings, in this most gentle & scenic ambient stroll for Polar Seas Recordings & reminds the world’s increasingly cramped city dwellers another way is possible.

Not many producers have been dropping lush laidback beats for as long or as reliably as J-Walk. In his latest LP cosmic soulfulness meets low gravity grooviness in this NASA approved synth soaked space station soundtrack. One for all you space rangers.

Here’s a few singles & EPs that I’ve been digging. The Nu Genea especially should appeal to many here - I can’t believe it passed me by for so long!
