Where's Music At?

Yes indeed

Always thought the name Superpitcher was a bit dodgy though.

I have to agree, everything he does is gold…

They sound great and they’ve got the look and story, looks like one of those rare Japanese to Europe/US crossover successes, although having Sony/Sub Pop behind you definitely helps. But it’s great to see really deep broken beats getting 500K listens on Spotify!

During a monastic retreat & taking advantage of the Not Not Fun Records launch pad at the adjacent Buddhist space program, Lilla take off on a mission through genre, time & tempo bending wormholes that pleasingly warp their New Age sensibility into soothing, sometimes soaring & constantly surprising forms.

The succinct jazz from new boys with a long history Bunn DeBrett Quintet, is a masterclass in precision playing, with the room the sounds have to breathe making every note from these London jazz luminaries count double. A really lovely, laid back listen.

Ambient has more varieties than you think. The new LP from Simone Gatto & guests for Pregnant Void is of the round edged, fluffy to the touch, probiotic, multi-vitamin, binaural beat, monaural/isochronic tone enriched, mindfulness enhancing, New Age leaning & gently propulsive type. Ambient easy listening if you will, & perfect for a lazy Sunday.

Ease your way into the weekend with this gently playful suite of jazz soaked, folk fringed, head healing ambient recordings by Rich Ruth as part of his 2020 lockdown coping strategy & which are now here to help us all through life’s ups and downs. Once you’re fully awake hit play on Calming Signals, his LP from 2019 which I only discovered (along with the artist) last week, but which is a Kosmische masterpiece.

Saw this recommended on a couple of blogs and can 100% pass it on to the good ship TP. Absolutely amazing ambient folk album. Transcendent music from Michigan.

Yes mate. Fantastic blog, some much good stuff on there!

Funnily I just logged in to post about this album, I’ve had it on repeat all morning. She’s an ambient folk angel :slightly_smiling_face:

Stunning, tone dyed folk fusion from @dana_sipos as the sweet, thoughtful, pointed when necessary lyrics bleed into the consummately constructed layers of an obviously at ease studio band & are then buffed by another nuanced production job from Sandro Perri who must have every singer songwriter in Canada with sense currently queueing at his door. As for the cover -

House for the house & careful driving rather than the club from @two____ends for @planettriprecords, as he uses a host of warming, well worn & comy deep house sounds & tropes, slows the tempo & inflates the spaces to encourage late night contemplation rather than perspiration.

Pastorally purposed synthetic sounds abound on the new Blochemy LP for @whitelabrecs. Gentle tones drift through the hazy ambient atmosphere that is blurring the horizon, forcing you to mindfully concentrate on the soothing sounds around. Eminently Sunday suitable.

I don’t have to tell all here there’s been real moves the last couple of years to @discord servers & forums by labels, artists & music communities to allow algorithmically unfiltered dissemination of information & escape the pay to reach clutches of the worlds biggest advertising (oops social media) companies. This new compilation emanating from the @jogginghouseserver is a very real & wonderful manifestation of this phenomenon, not to mention a genuinely top drawer ambient music compilation, many of the tracks coming from unknown artists who are community members. Power to the people.

Been on it for ages for Gaming, didn’t realise music movers n shakers used it too. :call_me_hand:

Loads of electronic producers, hop hop dudes, it does seem like a generally younger man’s channel, but basically anyone who want to control their data and fan access.

I did join one run by Richard Norris as an extension of the Group Mind ambient Facebook group but I didn’t actually like the general environment (layout etc.) and it eats up energy run in a browser (guess I needed the app?). I much prefer this forum’s layout and user experience for instance - much cleaner and pleasant to use.
