A few weeks ago I saw that Discogs announced that they had âdetected an increase in scamsâ and were attempting to introduce new security measures. Just what that means I wouldnât know, but possibly it could account for some of these problems. Iâve only ever been a buyer and tend to restrict what I buy to US shippers âcos the prices are getting so high. And I have to admit I wonder about some of the slightly strange appearing foreign sellers, although I buy from established firms with no great worries. What I do like about Discogs is that I mostly feel that the sellers have misspent their lives in much the same way I have. Although I hasten to add that misspent is not the way I explain it to myself.

Turns out the sleeve notes are pretty good if youâre into that kind of thing. Music is nicely put together also. You could glean out another comp or two from references to other tracks in the notes.
Now heâs cancelled the order as he didnt actually have the record. Whatâs that about?

Just had a slightly weird experience on Discogs. Was looking at five CDs to buy, messaged the seller about details on one of them, then a question about the shipping rates which showed a discrepancy between what he stated and then calculated. Answers were adequate, although not precise in the case of the shipping. Thought about the purchase for a couple of days. Next I looked, all had been removed from my cart - although, surprise, they were all still for sale from the same seller when I checked out of pure curiosity about of all of them being removed. These are relatively obscure, not high value items, likely to not sell for some time. Certainly not all five in a few days. Itâs odd âcos Iâve had items in my cart for months before and, sure, sometimes they disappear âcos someone else buys them, but Iâve never seen a seller delete everything only to immediately relist them. I suppose it could be a screwup on Discogs part but you gotta wonder. The rest of my cart did not suffer such removals.
Lots of other places to spend my money. No shortage of titles to buy although certain sectors are beginning to feel like Iâm scraping the bottom of the barrel for sane prices.
folks do this a lot - theyâre simply expiring their stock and then re-activating it.
from what i can tell, theyâre doing this because the records move to the newest of the ânewly listedâ products in your âbuy music - items i wantâ widget. itâs a dumb trick, but a fairly common one.

This is my experience too, which is why you have to scroll past all the newly relisted items to find some fresh stuff in your wants list. Itâs always bugged me and itâs always the same sellers.

I may have been guilty of this a few times now and again, it definitely does turbo charge your sales if youâre having a slow period.

Mainly bought it for the lfo and rare silk but the rest of the comp is great. Top pressing too.
