Whats the last record you bought?

curious about those ron trent records but they are pretty damn expensive ($40) here in the states.

and of course, i’d have to have both…

Wasn’t aware of them until I saw them on the wall. Very pleasing listening so far

sort of similar to the woob album that arrived a couple of days ago - more sort of spooky ambient noisescapes. i don’t remember where i first heard this but i liked it and stuck it in my wantlist. the cover would make you believe it’s a little more pretty and pastoral than it actually is - it’s got some cool loops and patterns, but it’s colder and a bit more mechanical than you’d think.

bobby lee makes some of that ambient country that i love so much, but he tends to be a little bit more accessible and less abstract than most of the cosmic americana that i buy. similar to tommy guerrero’s “los days” project. this one wasn’t on my radar, my ex pointed it out to me and it was an immediate purchase. since the other record showed up in the seller’s inventory from my wantlist, i bought that one too.

i buy a lot of records, but i can tell that the depression is taking hold of me - it’s been new packages on the doorstep every day for four days. not the worst way to get the dopamine hit, but some days i’m somewhat ashamed of the compulsion. at least i’m supporting art and artists, and it’s nice to hold a beautiful thing in my lap.

All three of those are killer. That Mowest compilation is full of absolute gems but the title track gets me every time.

Is the Mowest a reissue?

No it’s the 2011 release from light in the attic mate.

Getting on this. Shed a load of records when I left London. Still kicking myself I flogged the schplittin schtones LP Morgan Buckley thing amongst them.

Alle – Dine Pæne Øjne

2017

A wonderful record that I got introduced to in the most perfect way, pure right place, right time magic.

There was a lot I wanted to squeeze into my six nights in Copenhagen, and high on the list was a visit to Bird, an audio bar just a 10 minute walk from where I was staying. The DJ lineups from Thursday to Sunday looked great, so I decided to check it out on Thursday night.

That evening, Dingo Tracks and Daniel Ellow were playing. Both were spinning some seriously good stuff, and after Dingo came over to introduce himself, we got chatting. It was clear both of them were proper heads so what better people to ask “What Danish records should I be on the lookout for?”

Without hesitation, Ash (Dingo Tracks) pulled Dine Pæne Øjne straight from his record bag. Daniel had brought his copy too, full seal of approval from both. They warned me it could be tricky to find and a bit pricey, but I snapped a photo of the sleeve and hoped I might stumble on it one day.

The next night, on Dingo’s recommendation, I headed over to Bird’s second venue on Palægade 8 to catch Christian d’Or. From start to finish, his set was absolutely top-tier,

every track was quality and almost all unfamiliar to me. And yep, tucked in his record bag too: Dine Pæne Øjne.

That sealed it, I had to get this record. A few days later, I bit the bullet and picked up a copy on Discogs. It wasn’t cheap, but it’s been on heavy rotation ever since. Totally worth it.

A brilliant record, and such a memorable way to discover it thanks to some great people in a great city.

My favorite track on the album.

So what is the deal with Denmark and good old balearic records? Seems like it is a sound that does well there.
