My excuse, if I need one, is that I was in a school production of this when I was 16.
All these years later, Iâm a little surprised to discover how much our teacher-directors were âinspiredâ by the film. Not only was our stage set bordered by a chain-link fence (check the clip below), but the kid playing JC wore a Superman T-shirt. Imitation is the sincerest etc.
Also, Iâm a sucker for a happy-clappy, love-is-all-you-need singalong tune.

Also, Mercy Mercy - I heard about them through Sean P âOriginalsâ compilation, but not that track.
I seem to remember hearing that back in the day no-one wanted it and Mercy Mercy were bargain bin, until they appeared on some comps.
