My excuse, if I need one, is that I was in a school production of this when I was 16.

All these years later, I’m a little surprised to discover how much our teacher-directors were “inspired” by the film. Not only was our stage set bordered by a chain-link fence (check the clip below), but the kid playing JC wore a Superman T-shirt. Imitation is the sincerest etc.

Also, I’m a sucker for a happy-clappy, love-is-all-you-need singalong tune.

I received a big (for me) record order recently. Among them these 2 are big favourites of beautiful oddity:

and

can definitely recommend, both belong on another planet.

What’s the K&D remaster sounding like?

Very nice. Don’t think I have heard it since listening to it in an office in the late 90’s!

K&D are touring the ‘Sessions’ live, 4 UK dates (Bristol, Manchester and two nights at the Festival Hall)

Definitely up for that

bought a load of cheapies today.

https://www.discogs.com/release/452816-Erasure-Blue-Savannah

blue savannah is a nice lil’ pop song but i really bought this for the campy version of “no GDM”.

https://www.discogs.com/release/148798-Baby-Mammoth-Im-Not-Joking-Narrow
https://www.discogs.com/release/145762-Baby-Mammoth-Sound-In-Your-Mouth

golden era pork stuff. i also picked up a leggo beast 12 that i already had, they were so cheap that it was easier to buy them on sight than to open up the shitty discogs mobile app and check if it was already in the collection.

https://www.discogs.com/release/27324-Studio-X-Los-Kings-Del-Mambo

a west coast rave classic. i played it off of a twitch remix service, never had the original 12 but that’s fixed now.

https://www.discogs.com/release/306379-The-Beloved-Rock-To-The-Rhythm-Of-Love

good murk mixes.

https://www.discogs.com/release/373676-Bebel-Gilberto-River-Song-Grant-Nelson-Remixes

sort of a generic latin house mix but it’s a good bebel performance.

https://www.discogs.com/release/101928-Englandneworder-World-In-Motion-Remix

i really did not care for this song at all, and i was a new order enthusiast. however, weatherall mixes!

https://www.discogs.com/release/748322-Freedom-Dance-Sing-Along

another one i thought i might already own, but i didn’t.

https://www.discogs.com/release/3751364-Pat-Metheny-Group-Still-Life-Talking

80’s me is still a little more than shocked that current me likes pat methany.

https://www.discogs.com/release/25244-The-Dark-Side-Of-The-Moog-From-Within-Vinyl-Compilation

from within was pretty great. dark side of the moog was also pretty nice, but there were so many of them that i don’t think i even listened to all of them, so no idea if i like the DSOTM tracks on this one.

https://www.discogs.com/release/209938-Various-An-Afflicted-Mans-Musica-Box

used to have this on cassette, way back when. this is much more 80’s me - i was lucky enough to grow up with a bunch of noise nerds, and young teen me loved scary sounds. this certainly has a few.

Just been streaming this, it’s lovely!Q Where did you find a physical copy? Looks like it’s pretty hard to track down… Or may be I’m just no good at internet sleuthing…

Bought it from the band directly.

Thank you!
It’s pretty spendy (esp with postage) from there, will keep hunting!

Love the Lio, big fan of that 12!

Also, Mercy Mercy - I heard about them through Sean P “Originals” compilation, but not that track.
I seem to remember hearing that back in the day no-one wanted it and Mercy Mercy were bargain bin, until they appeared on some comps.

On a Sean P related anecdote, he also told me this Feel The Real cover version was the same - couldn’t give it away as everyone still revered the David Bendeth version.

I see now it’s £100!

Wish I had found 10 of these in a bargain bin…

Idle hands (bristol) recently re-opened so popped in the other day. Great selection of dub and electronic stuff. Could’ve spent loads but treated myself to this. Highly recommend visiting if you’re in the area.
