What you going to?

Really? A few mates said it was terrible and left early

The sound quality wasn’t particularly great sometimes but he played some corkers and we thought he was pretty impressive overall. Had a period of hours where we didn’t recognise anything played which is always a good sign…

I’m playing a short set Thursday as part of OMC but it gets us in for free… and it’s just up the road.

Heard they played an amazing breakbeaty version of Ain’t Nobody. Any idea what it is?

I wasn’t able to attend in the end, but it seemed like a nice Pre Rotation party.

how was it?

We are hosting a lil’ shindig with Simon Ruf Dug for about 150 people when he makes a flying visit through Sydney in July. I just finished making the flyer today - should be a great night.

Didn’t hear that one. Those two are like masters of the alternate version!

It was a nice vibe. A lot of the Hackney Half crowd had gone by then and a load of Dan’s family came down.

Would dearly love to make it over for ā€œWe Are Loveā€ in July but aagh so skint right now. Will reach an executive decision later in the week.

How was it @Joe ?

Yeah, it was absolutely great. A joyous occasion really. Incredible atmosphere from open to close. A big turn out of old faces and a big young presence too which was great to see. Sean & Vlad were only suppsoed to play til 4 but they played on til 6. Genuinely one of the best sets I’ve heard either of them play. A real mixture of stuff: dubby breaks, old detroit records pitched down, swirling acid crescendos, pianos, twisted disco, mangled rave… It was not without drama though, sometime around 2am it become apparent the smoke machine was stuck on and the fire alarm went off causing the music to stop for about 10 minutes. But when it came back on the atmosphere went up another level. Sadly in the crowd rush to get back in a fella stacked it down the stairs and cracked his head open. Had to go to A&E for major stitches but he reappeared at 5am for the last hour covered in blood! Incredible scenes. I’m not sure what the last record was. Vlad played it, something beatless with a really long bittersweet sax solo.

A real shame that it takes something like a beloved venue closing to create a magical night.

Here’s a clip, I didnt take a load of videos but this sums up the general vibe. It was like this all night

Brian Not Brian and me at Brilliant Corners this bank holiday Sunday. We’ve been bouncing music off each other for a couple of weeks now and are pretty excited.

We start at 9, the tables clear at 10 and it’s a dance party through to 4am. Free in but early arrival is recommended.
