What you going to?

Would love to have seen them but the ticket prices were an absolute piss take IMO

I saw Air at Primavera Sound 2016 and even as a fan I was supremely bored tbh. I’d hoped they might muck around with a moog or other toys and give it more of a raw live feel but it just felt like 2 guys playing a CD i’d heard a zillion times. Sounds like you saw a much better gig

Likewise. I saw them in 2001, around the time of their ā€œdifficultā€ second album, and they were a tragic mix of boring and angry (the ELP cloaks didn’t help matters much).

On Sunday it’s fair to say they still did very little, barely spoke, and didn’t interact with each other at all…but they played brilliantly, and the staging and lighting were just fantastic - and connected intimately with the music, so it felt more of an experience (man…) or an art installation, than a concert.

Also think the venue of the London Coliseum also helped, as it sprinkled a bit of magic dust on the proceedings.

You’re right. Tickets were expensive but I paid more for a seat to see ā€œOpening nightā€ and walked out at the interval, so feel this was much better value for money.

Sweeties dance next Saturday - 6th April - with two local DIY favs of ours:

Inner Totality (ddwy / Public Possession) & Wasted Space (Noods Radio)

Fire over your names for guestlist

Are there many places to stay around Todmorden?

There’s a couple of good Air B&Bs that I’ve used in walking distance.

I think accommodation in Todmorden is fairly limited although there seems to be a bit of an unofficial AirBnB scene. Most folks stay in Hebden down the road and there’s plenty of b&b’s, cottages and a couple of small hotels. Halifax isnt a million miles away either.

There’s not a whole lot of options I think. But for AW60 we stayed in an amazing wee hut that had a tree house vibe about it. It was in a forest overlooking a valley. No toilet but it was really comfy. Alright, it was a bit like a shed. But a great wee shed. I found it on Airbnb.

There’s also a hotel opposite the railway station that my mates have stayed in and it’s fine. Hebden Bridge is also an option, but watch out if there’s a lock in at the Lion and it’s a late one, as getting a taxi can be murder.

Im guessing most booked for this
My mate has Friday / Saturday booked with his mates but he now cant do the Friday so may go for Friday & have his bed

Hebden is great, we stayed at hotel above Vocation Brewery. However there are multiple vegan shoe shops but few places to buy non artisan crisps or general things!
It is like if League of Gentleman / Viz did a parody of Hebden Bridge

If we were in London we’d be there - got an e-mail from IDEA regarding a new Ibiza book project and they are having a launch party 18 April @ DSM with Phil Mison DJing. Get in touch with them here: [email protected]

Thanks for the heads up. I’m on their mailing list but didn’t hear about this. Dropped them a line and hope to get down there. Thanks again.

Same. They responded saying I could have a spot at DSM. However might have a work thing getting in the way. Regardless, the book looks incredible:
