What you going to?

Went last year and it was excellent. Well laid out, great vibes and although slanted towards a young ish crowd, there was also a fair few older ravers too (inc me). No kids tho which means that people do tend to be going for it & it can be quite full on.

Thanks mate. TBH no kids sounds like heaven :joy: :+1:

Just not into being around gangs of skin fade/NF Puffer/little chest bag/balloons and ket boys and girls you know?! :grimacing:

I’ve been to every Houghton so far. Went by accident the first year whilst I was on a family camping trip in Norfolk.

Had a great time, every time. Beautiful location and a good size of festival.

There’s enough variety of stage/tent/sound that you can find stuff you like.

It’s quite a young crowd generally. But definitely a crew of olders too and all ages seem to be proper music heads. I’ve tended to gravitate to Cosmo/Bill Brewster/Optimo/Felix D/Giant Steps and the like.

I highly recommend it. That being said, I’m not going this year. Feel like I’ve done it now tbh.

The only downside has been when it was very, very hot there wasn’t much shade outside of the woods. And the woods were very, very dusty.

There’s a lot to love about Houghton. You’ll have a great time.

Gotcha. Just fancy a few bands in the mix and there doesn’t seem to be anything like that :grimacing:

True story! Mate got 2 tickets at last minute and we managed to swerve our families at 4pm Saturday, returning to our glamping site at 6am Sunday, absolutely twatted obviously.

Spent most of the time in The Quarry at Houghton that first time: Mr Scruff followed by Weatherall and then Optimo. Four hour sets. Epic. Last time I properly heard Weatherall doing his thing.

Yeah it’s pretty much all electronic.

Said it before but anyone looking to get their rave on in September should come to Nous in SW France. You won’t get ephemeral balearic soundscapes and can get pretty dark - but it is a lot of fun, very cheap and the Basque crew are really nice. 50 bucks for weekend (camping included)

Still torn on whether to go to Logan’s thing in Romania. It is very tempting

What’s the Romania thing?

International Training Camp (Bucharest) July 5-7

Yep, with you! Definitely some of that around but IMO enough of a wider good vibe for it not to be too overpowering.

Ah. Looks fun. I’m in that Facebook group but never look at Facebook. Is Bucharest the ‘new’ [somewhere]?

Not massively clued up tbh. I got tipped off about it last week and am guessing more info will come out soon. Been looking at maps and watching videos on YouTube of night trains getting stopped on the Hungarian-Romanian border and wondering if such a journey could be justified. Musicwise I only really know Khidja off that scene who I really like (and maybe they opened doors?) Whereas the ‘Rominimal’ guys Rhadoo and the others always left me a bit cold.

Hi all - if you happen to be in Los Angeles tonight, myself and Michael David (who’s last EP was one of my favourites of last year) will be playing all night at Homage in Chinatown! 10 PM to 2 AM!

Roisin Murphy in Toronto in June!

Although she (or her socials people) need to get their shit together and not say she’s coming stateside for Canadian shows… oops.

Sept 6-8 - a few weeks apart

Saw Air perform at the London Coliseum last night on their Moon Safari 25th anniversary tour.

It was a fantastic show; a mix of art installation and a pop concert rolled into one. Superb staging and they were amazing performers. While a small number of tracks strayed a little too far into the outskirts of prog-rock for my liking, others were more dubwise - and all the better for it.

Well worth seeing over the Summer (if you like their music, d’accord…).
