I’ve had lots of brilliant times at the Loft parties, the music is always great, lovely bunch of people, good vibe. Without knowing what’s really behind it, I think it’s a shame they’ve split and both doing essentially different versions of the same thing. With All My Friends and Beauty and the Beat already going then will be interesting to see how they all continue and define themselves.

That land grab after Mancusso’s passing just feels a bit sad to me. We all know it’s happening. It’s just a shame that something that was so built of love in the 70s by someone wonderful end ups like this…

A friend who went to one of the New York Loft parties mid noughties, said that he had the worst shits ever after eating the chicken salad, but that all he could think as he was sat on the pot in agony, was remembering Danny Krivit piling his plate high and going back for seconds ….

I think the guy who does it Alejandro had a hand in the Light Bar parties, but I don’t know who the system belongs to. I think they shipped it to Spain from somewhere in England. I think they sensed an opportunity as audiophiles are thin on ground in these parts… It is basically a pastiche of everything described above though. Obv I’m a bit wary of naff parties that are just facsimiles of the past, whether Clockwork, School Disco or classical Hacienda roadshows at one end or this at the other. But then again so rare I get out now…
