Have tried to get a visit organised with mates as it sounds ace. Will try again later this year so reports welcome!
Will do. Was thinking about the night with Daniel Wang & Bell Towers too but the group wanted something āless discoā ![]()
Any reports from Hard Times at the Ministry? I had tickets but unwell so couldnāt go annoyingly
Great day. Absolutely rammed from the start. Fantastic to see and hear Tony Humphries in the flesh. Johnny Reckless and Frankie Foncett wonderful also in the bar.
Seen loads of vids and looked mega. Theyāve switched the box around a bit? DJ now lower and nearer the dancefloor?
Yeah exactly that. Chatting to a guy who was a member from the opening. Very different from back then.
That will be excellent Gregg. Have a brilliant time.
Bit late but I went to the Hard Time gig @ MoS on Sat too.
Really enjoyed it ! Tony Humphries was great, maybe bordering on the more commercial ādefectedā type house at times but would then get quite deep and hypnotic. Abstract Truthās āwe had a thingā got played at the end which was always a massive tune for me in the late 90s.
The main event for me was the Claussell and Ron Trent pairing. Absolutely loved it - they went quite deep and very trippy / almost tribal at time. And I know its marmite but I do love Joeās EQ / isolator work - he can turn an average house track into an absolute monster. And Ron Trent really does have some killer productions to his name that got played, in particular:
(absolute belter)
this also got player
The guitar lick seemed to be looped for infinity over some tribal percussive stomper.
I also really liked the main room - DJ booth much closer to the crowd and has always been a great space. Only thing is that Iām sure the sound has actually got worse than I remembered - just too much bass that overpowers all the other frequencies. But still v fun and enjoyable ![]()
A fair bit off still, but this will be great down by the water at Titanic over the solstice weekend*ā¦Darren Bell/Jezebelle ![]()
*If itās stopped raining by then
Going to ātake a chanceā on it then?
Hi everyone. I have a ticket for the Adrian Sherwood gig at the Barbican next Tues (17/02). Unfortunately I canāt make it. Level 1, Row B, Seat 58. Free to a good home
.
Going to and also past events, all in a production of event capacity. Apologies if this reads like self promotion, I donāt really go out to any events as a patron.
Lucky Cloud. Doing it for the free food.
Good As You: Sold out the last one, sound from Barney & Heather from Sun Palace with the small system from āWe Out Hereā used on the Worldwide FM tent. Visuals and lighting cues from me. Again we are self contained. Looked and sounded greatā¦long tough day, home at 5am, good team of grafters, rare quality.
Open House, as part of the collective, we are a sound system and visual event production (own the whole operation, kit wise). Last one was Jimpster, had Giles Smith & Atjazz previously. Iāve put in significant hours and work to make the last one the equal of anything else, pulled it off with just three of us.
Iāll be down the local playing rock and pop next week with Simon. Will sound fanatstic and we have some new visual toys and effects to keep it interesting. Not even a pint of piss for our efforts till 2am, this is a theme.
Week after, lugging soundsystem, baby sitting and not being impressed by the ātalentā at the local handbag house and trance day party, itās huge by the way, very not Balearic.
Iām gravitating towards putting this effort in a more city based location. Only Proās please if you have talent and work ethic. The mobile listening system seems unused at the moment, I can produce this to a very high standard with zero pretentious wankery given a suitable selector and venue.
Iāve got tickets (via @J_C) but half expecting my mate to pull out already
Was looking forward to it but now wonāt be in London as planned.
Iāve had to shift another ticket for a mate that canāt make it either. Iām gutted I wonāt be there ![]()
Iām going. Also expecting I might have a spare. Letās see how bad the post-Lowlife damage is amongst the crew.
Sorry to miss you at Lucky Cloud tomorrow, wouldāve been good to put a face to a handle. I canāt make it because Iām heading to Lowlife. Who else?
I kind of would have liked to have gone to Lowlife also. Have a great time to you all!
