Friends of mine are taking over an empty space in the Meatpacking district of Helsinki for the summer. 2 room set up, one for hanging out incl. the bar and another for dancing with a 4 point sound, stacks incl. old subs from the Kaiku club.
The space looks great and they’ve put in a good effort with acoustic panels, building out a bar and booth etc. Even managed to access the Marimekko archive and pull out some old textiles with vintage prints hung on the walls. Opening this weekend.
This looks like a space where fun happens…
Azymuth at Norwich Arts Centre tonight, well excited. The bits I’ve heard from their new LP that comes out in a couple weeks sound great too.

Really enjoyed Gala yesterday. Moodymann didn’t go rogue and played a great set. Theo Parrish tent was jumping.

Loads of amazing records that I had not heard before. Didn’t hear that many classics but Moodymann dropping Gwen McRae in the sun was a moment. The energy in the Theo tent was also electric. A sight to behold.
Thought Theo was incredible, every time I went back to his tent it was like peak time in a club and he was 5 hours into his set!

Caught DJ Koco last night. I’m sure a lot of you have seen them before, but phwoaaar what a performance! Must’ve covered every single tempo and genre in existence with such skill, enthusiasm and flow that you couldn’t help but feel positive.
Caribou are doing a free thing here next week. Not heard anything in years
