His missus Susie Bick used to come to a lot of castings but we could never afford her, one of my favourite Nick Knight shots of her. She had a clothes label called The Vampires Wife, seems appropriate.

Randomly she came up in conversation on Saturday afternoon, I’d not heard of her before. My mate told us how he bumped into her in a bank on the Kings Rd, I think in the 90’s. She was done up to the nines and was accompanied by two dalmatian dogs. He assumed she must’ve borrowed them for the morning.
They ended up going to dinner where he realised how out of his depth he was! 
Anyway, also in the conversation was an upholsterer who make a lot of furniture for them. I got the sense that they are particular about quality and any colour you like as long as it’s black!
We have a local resident here who dresses everyday in full victorian gothic, sunshade and all. She is as pale as a sheet, tattooed to within an inch of her life and sports a large bird of prey on her arm.
It’s easy to be irked by these characters but I think they add a bit of spice and colour (as long as it’s black) to an otherwise homogenised world.
I only saw Nick Cave once, at Glastonbury, I wouldn’t normally have gone but I was otherwise alone and taken by a mate. It was one of the most memorable live performances I’ve seen. Stagger Lee performed directly at a woman atop someone’s shoulders which made the main stage of glastonbury feel like a tiny venue.
Beyond that I can’t comment. Though I do like Tom Waits.

I had a girlfriend who read his book(s) religiously and pretty early doors she leant me one and I finished it and the relationship with her. It was dark and I wasn’t in the mood for any of that nonsense. She also told me she was trying to buy a copy of Mein Kampf so that might have done it as well. She was/is incredibly fit and my friends couldn’t understand why I would end a relationship with her. I think all of you understand why.

Ive seen them a lot, some of the most powerful live shows I’ve seen from any band. Brilliant musicians in all of the varied lineups.

I was doing the music at a birthday party the day after they’d played the recent Preston Park gig in Brighton. The amount of people there who’d been (separately from each other) who agreed it was just an amazing gig. Some said that it was the best gig they’d ever been to, which for a rock n roll female from the business is fair praise indeed.
They would huddle together and gush. It felt like intruding on private grief to remain!

wild discogs pricing. I dunno what is is atm? random releases that average 20bucks, and someone has a copy for sale for 500. why? my guess is they’ve been told to sell collection, so just price everything absurdly knowing it won’t sell?

Is some of it money laundering? Possibly. Some of it ‘I dont want to sell it but if some clown gives me ten times what it’s worth then why not?’ and some is just mind boggling like the ‘Want the best copy’ guy who, in a random example, is selling Bob Dylan’s ‘Greatest Hits’ for £1500 and not the tenner or so that it usually goes for. Good luck to him, God loves a trier…

Saw a reel today talking about the movement known as UK Poo - a reaction to the polished high fashion, big budget slick pop machine that has infiltrated all music from hip hop to dance and grime etc. It’s deliberately low rent, bad lyrics and either a complete piss take or a genuine thing - the jury is still out on what it really is.
It’s not aimed at our age demographic, but have any of you over there been exposed to this stuff?

How people interview for roles nowadays.
I do a lot of hiring and over the years and I am finding that people either overshare or try and turn the interview around and start interviewing me.
I did just get this zinger from a candidate for the role in Honolulu:
“There are old people, like in their 40’s”
If anyone needs me I will be staring at the bottom of a glass.
