What don't you get

Barbecues. Trying to balance a plate of either nuked or just past raw meat and limp salad while standing up. Not to mention inconsiderate neighbours in small London back gardens seemingly having the damned things 2 or 3 nights in a week in this summer’s hot weather, meaning we had to close windows and doors to stop the charred animal smoke coming into the house.

The Rest Is Football. Terrible.

Do not get me started regarding the terrible state of football punditry on TV and radio.

There are some good bits but most of its just for clips.

I was a big fan in the 80s and 90s. In 1992 a mate persuaded me to loiter outside a tour venue ahead of a gig and the Bad Seeds dribbled off the tour bus to sign autographs. The two of us were then invited to watch a full sound check with Nick larking about on stage and posing for photos. Made a gloomy indie kid very happy.

His last good record was in 1997. That’s 20 years of total cack

He’s great in the Kylie documentary though :slightly_smiling_face:

School Mum’s Whatsapp groups

Jesus wept, the level of neuroticism is something else.

Fucking hell.

It’s a first day in school and I’m outta them. It’s a parody and I already spent almost 15 years there.

Do you know if after-school clubs start back this week?

Fortunately for my son (in primary), only the mums are included. I am still in my stepdaughters group-use to behell, now it’s just a group for organising pissups for the parents now the kids are 19/20

Hard agree. But I’ll also raise you your local Nextdoor neighbourhood group. AKA Busybodies Anonymous.

Do these people not have jobs?

The best thing about those groups are the eventual side groups, formed by the more edgier, like minded heads.

I coach my son’s football team and got added to a group there. It’s basically a bunch of stay at home mums and me trying to work out things like how much water their sons need to bring to practice. Just when you think the message is sent someone comes in with an unhinged suggestion that makes me put on my teacher voice. Thinking of banning a few now. It’s been 2 weeks.

It’s an A day.

Mrs CovKid volunteered to help organise the Year 6 celebrations, hoodies etc as our daughter is starting secondary school next week. Cue another WhatsApp group… Everyone has an idea until it actually comes to doing something and everyone is suddenly too busy.

Driving to my Dad’s funeral, her phone rings some Mum wanting to talk Leaver’s Hoodies…

I’ve come to the conclusion that WhatsApp groups can be as horrendous / insidious / toxic as the worst of IG , Facebook, twitter etc. Been doing my best to extricate myself from as many as I can (hopefully causing as little offence as possible).

I somehow ended up in a WhatsApp group for singles in my area. I was added by a friend. It was all going swimmingly for a while, then someone sent me a private message, and it all descended into chaos.

Basically, if I didn’t respond to their message that instant, I’d get a string of “???” and “I know you’ve read my messages, I can see the blue ticks”. It then got quite scary “I’ve found out where you live”, “I’m learning a lot about how you treat people”. Finally it became really quite aggressive and sweary, and I had to contact the police.

WhatsApp groups? In the bin you go!
