Trump era ‘artwork’
The artwork itself is not enough for many people today, it has to be further monetised by turning it into an ‘experience’, with projections and animations. The thing I object to most about the Robbie Williams stuff is that people are paying £20 a pop to see it, putting it on the same standard as Van Gogh etc. If it was at a commercial gallery where some rich wanker would buy it as an investment it wouldn’t be as bad.
Put him in a tuxedo and bow tie he thinks he’s Frank, give him a paintbrush and naturally he’s Paul Cezanne. These people ![]()
My mate did a piss-take book of all of these shit “live, love, laugh…” posters, etc.
“The Art of Banksy Without Limits” exhibition is coming to my town soon. Ugh
Banned.
That was about the most nasty altercation I’ve experienced in a record shop. Just got chucked out for taking a picture of a reggae record I might have on my lists.
Thirsty records, Bedford. They were proper nasty, look like they should be glassing randoms on Friday night. I did say they will be named and shamed as even I was surprised from thier rep of banning ‘dealers’ from the empty shop.
I’m very very thicked skinned but that was proper unhinged. I won’t leave this one as it puts us at risk of a punch up so I’m publishing this.
The only good things about Bedford are Wendover Cafe and Blaka Mix
Wendover isn’t in Beds…
I’l single out the shop, the rest is your standard small town, not much to say on the area. Rarely visit, much less so now.
Just an edit. Theres a large beer in it for anyone with the trust to go in there and get me a record, assuming condition is vg plus or better. There are signs everywhere to not look at the vinyl condition without bringing it to the counter so be careful.
Talking about this place - https://maps.app.goo.gl/jnKfAZ9bykUTPBbM9
I live in Northampton and cover our Bedford branch occasionally so could grab it next time if it’s still there ![]()
You’re not allowed to look at the records?? Madness
No filming. No taking records out of the sleeves to inspect without taking to counter.
No "being a record dealer’. Was asked that question when I first visited a couple of years ago.
Like everybody in the age of the internet of a resonable inteligence, I do sell records on discogs and ebay as well as other unwanted items.
Went there so long ago it is almost a dream. Italian owned, awesome as I remember. Used to have a bit a freedom for an extended lunch break when I worked in ‘rock and roll’ production.
I’ll PM you and there’s a Wendover on me…
Actually makes me want go in with a video camera and start pulling everything out and inspecting stuff just to fuck them off.
If they’re precious about people selling on their stock that suggests they have no idea what they’re doing.
I’m invariably suspicious about the record shop/ cafe thing… it’s usually just a tokenistic hipster selection of dull reissues
Reissue of ‘Kind of Blue’ with your cortado and overpriced pastry? No, fuck off.
Most record shops are shit these days.
I could elaborate but you know what i mean.

It’s just 99 percent MOR bootsale crap with some new random stuff mixed in. The coffee machines are domestic cheap ones, never seen a customer. I had intel that they had banned Alex from Spiral Archive and to be wary.
There was radio 2 blasting with the mid turned up full on when I visited, along with a horendous smell like a tramps underpants. Maybe coming from out back.
I totally hope for more visitors from these pages asap. It might be some kind of group catharsis similar to the many that have been burnt by Chris Energy.
Just an edit. Once I was banned. I mentioned they had heard they had stinking reputation and that the internet review would not be positive. The other guy who I think was his father chimed in "don’t threaten us’ but it was feeling very punchy at that point.
Genius

Sometimes get store owners getting antsy when you start rummaging through stock on the floor below the racks…. “ not priced them up yet mate”etc etc
Well don’t put them out then, because I’m going straight for the bargain bins and boxes under the racks first that haven’t been picked over. Not only that, you can get a guide price in seconds online anyhow ( whether I’ll pay it is another matter mind you)
I’ll see your guide price and raise you “this is what a formerly wonderful place to go digging has turned into ‘we’ll basically sell it to you for the discogs price’”. Jog. Fucking. On.
(Bananas in St Petersburg, FL btw - no hesitation in naming and shaming. I walked out, leaving a pile of vinyl on their counter. They weren’t even open to rounding down the total for a stack of them…)
