Who are you exactly lol… years ago I went to give a girl a wristband to come into the DJ booth thinking I was cool
and she raised her arm and was wearing one of the wristbands…
that hit hard…lol
You took me up wrong lol Who are you exactly is number 5 on the 2020 list, that’s what I was commenting on…![]()
Haha i get you now, jeezo…
I have literally never heard anyone say this in my life, i was a bit shocked to think someone was saying it to me there tbh.
I would love to experience this world that these people have created.
Bedrock Dreams (Full on Renaissance mix) came on shuffle in car ( SD card with randomn stuff from a crashed HD - Renaissance album probably only house thing) & boy does it ‘kick’
Surprised its not been revived
I got asked exactly that at a Lowlife do a few years ago by a well spoken lady of similar age to myself.
It blew her mind I didn’t live in London and that I was a tradesman. Why are you here?
remember - righty tighty, lefty loosey!
Waves plugins.
I’m setting up my new Mac Mini.
They want me to pay $140 dollars for ONE YEAR licence coverage and I can’t install any of the plugins I paid hard earned cash for once upon a time.
Well fuck 'em! ![]()
Not for me. Gerald’s original version was perfection.
I bought that when it came out purely for the story behind it. Not one part of me thought about playing it out as Gerald’s version is unmatched as you said.
The Manchester star type. Now I’m going to approach this very carefully, as I don’t want to unnecessarily ruffle feathers. But here goes.
I didn’t grow up in Manchester, being the only “southerner” from a large catholic Irish family from Manchester(try that at family get togethers lol). I have noticed over the decades that there seems to have been a succession of famous people in the the music industry from Manchester that just come across as right annoying winey and antagonistic wankers.
Sumner, Hookey, Mark E Smith, Morrisey, The Gallaghers Etc Ect. I never met anyone that pain in the arse ever in Manchester as they would always get shut down by every single person around them. But I have observed over time that we have to put up with the winey, self absorbed miserablists that seem to come out of the place.
I know, it might seem like I’m stiring for a fight here, but this is a truism as I see it,that I never understood. Come at me lol.
Ian McCullough
The Reid Brothers
Bobby Gillespie
Radiohead
Nick Cave
Etc etc
None from Manchester…all miserablists to one extent or another… I think it has more to do with how many successful bands have come out of Manchester compared to other cities, which I attribute to the Irish diaspora in Manchester and the Irish folk tradition and knack for melody.
That said, there is no doubting the ‘dark satanic mills’ post industrial bleakness of the North especially in the 70’s and 80’s and I do think that a lot of these acts leant into that creatively, even though it’s not an accurate reflection of the more positive aspects of the northern mentality. Just my take on it, being from the north myself.
I don’t think miserabilist is fair on Radiohead. eg I watched loads of Ed O’Brien’s youtube videos during lockdown and he seemed really enthusiastic and warm. Yorke too isn’t anywhere like as moody as the caricature. They’re just fundamentally obsessive musicians who let their craft do the talking.
Well I actively avoid listening to their miserable music even though I admire their talents. Maybe as a younger man I would have been happy to wallow but not so much now.
That said as you suggest there is obviously a distinction between personality and output
Professional mancs. Wankers
Professional cockneys, scousers, mancs etc are all irritating as fuck. ‘My city is my identity’. I say this as a woolyback btw from a long line of Irish & Glaswegian and scouse parents.
Will never understand
Best part of £400 (+ however much over the course of the actual event) without even knowing who’s playing
2019 was my last time there.think the tickets were somewhere around 260. The time I had was well worth 400, or even more tbh. The only thing that puts me off now is the higher capacity. Price wise,it’s 100 percent worth 400 quid, and that’s not even considering the main line up. The glade, iicon, the temple, genosis, NYC downlow from Thursday to Sunday, 100 quid a night. Still think it’s a decent price for what’s on offer. Tho alot of ppl will be priced out of it,which is sad
Pro Scousers take top spot for me. Cilla Black, lived in fucking Surrey for decades ![]()
I think its people being priced out that annoys me the most. Not a huge festival fan myself but the ones i went to in my teens (mid 90s)were affordable for a 16-18 yr old with a part time job and didnt require booking 8 months in advance.
It’s the sheer scale of Glastonbury, I think. It guarantees there’s something for literally anyone and everyone
