Professional mancs. Wankers

Professional cockneys, scousers, mancs etc are all irritating as fuck. ‘My city is my identity’. I say this as a woolyback btw from a long line of Irish & Glaswegian and scouse parents.

Will never understand

Best part of £400 (+ however much over the course of the actual event) without even knowing who’s playing

2019 was my last time there.think the tickets were somewhere around 260. The time I had was well worth 400, or even more tbh. The only thing that puts me off now is the higher capacity. Price wise,it’s 100 percent worth 400 quid, and that’s not even considering the main line up. The glade, iicon, the temple, genosis, NYC downlow from Thursday to Sunday, 100 quid a night. Still think it’s a decent price for what’s on offer. Tho alot of ppl will be priced out of it,which is sad

Pro Scousers take top spot for me. Cilla Black, lived in fucking Surrey for decades :joy:

I think its people being priced out that annoys me the most. Not a huge festival fan myself but the ones i went to in my teens (mid 90s)were affordable for a 16-18 yr old with a part time job and didnt require booking 8 months in advance.

It’s the sheer scale of Glastonbury, I think. It guarantees there’s something for literally anyone and everyone

6 days away camping with your mates, with loads of parties/artists at the top of their game. For under £400.

Sounds pretty good value to me.

I mean, how much would a couple of tickets to a Premier League game cost these days? £300+? For an afternoon…

My gripe is the absolute farce in trying to secure them!!

Put like that it makes a bit more sense, but i want cast iron guarantees on the weather not being shit

I think i’m just a bit more of a 1 night person, maybe because i like my bed and hate camping.

Watching the doco White Riot about the Rock Against Racism movement and wondering why vocal supporters of Enoch Powell and the NF such as Bowie, Eric Clapton and Rod Stewart haven’t been historically held to account for some of the savagely racist quotes they spouted to the press at the time.

Clapton has and still gets shit about it, he’s apologised and his excuse was he was a miserable, self hating, pathetic drunk at the time.
Wasn’t aware of the other two’s involvement.

Surely not the Thin White Duke!?!?

Rod’s been doing a bit of community service, mostly on behalf of his Ferraris:

I’m still surprised Bowie has never been cancelled for his underage antics…

And John Peel.

Also, all this shit:

I dunno, I think in Bowie’s case he was drawn to the controversial aesthetics which he considered a bit subversive rather than the ideology and probably talked a lot of shit in interviews when he was off his head. In Clapton’s case I think he was always a bit of an arsehole (confirmed more recently during COVID) although again, I think he was completely wasted during the 70s which I guess is why he can’t remember much now. None of that gives either of them a pass for shitty behaviour but it should be factored in when retro-judging different landscapes decades ago
