What don't you get

I think this does Noel a disservice. Not a great guitarist or lyricist but his knack for a melody is first rate. Those blues riffs were nicked by the 60s 70s lot in the first place anyway

Totally agree. I can see both sides on Oasis but just thought that was dreadfully written, regardless of whatever point he was trying to make.

I dislike the whole image that Oasis so diligently worked to promote, as much as the music TBH. I was travelling a fair bit when DM came out and noticed when I went back to the UK, there was a noticeable change, people I knew that had always been reasonable started to act like proper cunts when out. When I brought it up I was often accused of being classist. Well if I had a class it would definitely be at the bottom of the working class slide, so it really kind of illustrated the lairyfying affect that the Blair/Britpop era had in the UK. Made me less inclined to return so often and made me feel like things were culturally heading south. No of course I don’t hold a band responsible for this but it was very central to all that commodification of lad.

100% my experience too. The posher kids at my college were all into indie, DMs and charity shop clobber, banging on about class politics, but the most snobbish people you could meet, sneering at anyone in Chipie jeans. I realised early on I didn’t fit into any tribe

On the back of the “dynamic pricing” row, how Live Nation have been allowed by governments to acquire and control the majority of the live music machine?

Win Butler has been cancelled so more wall to wall Idles/Fontaines DC these days

I can’t listen to either band. Idles just seem so contrived and trying too hard and Fontaines DC the lyrics and vocals are just awful for me.

In fact I can’t think of a single current guitar band I listen to. Shame were interesting for five minutes a few years ago. Very Magazine/Gang of Four/Wire. It’s all been done before eh?

Forgot about Shame, used to love ‘Concrete’ by them. don’t mind some Fontaines stuff but Idles are awful, some bloke shouting and ranting at ya :confounded:
