Re Russell Brand. There is abundant evidence in the public domain, much from his own mouth and admission, as to what he thinks of women, how you should treat women and what you can say about them( publicly) after sleeping with them.
If that is his publicly stated position, one can only imagine how he might behave behind closed doors, protected by fame and and privilege.
Of course, I do not know the full allegations against him. Equally, anonymous accusations are difficult to rebut and challenge. Further, there may be the possibility of some opportunistic bandwagon jumping.
Trial by media and public opinion is an unwelcome development in many ways, but without these journalistic investigations so many repeat offenders would not have been called to account. These responsible reports have generated many proper and fair criminal trials of those who have serially abused women.
Ask yourself this. Would you make up an account of being sexually assaulted for kicks or fame? Would others also then fabricate allegations that are so humiliating painful and embarrassing for no reason other than to waste time, fool the public or ruin a man for no reason whatsoever?
Statistics like 98% of sexual assualt/rape complaints going uncharged and high profile cases of police officers being rapists, plus the horrible process once a woman reports a sexual assault or rape mean that it is totally understandable why there might be a reluctance to go straight to the police. The opportunity to share the experience with a sympathetic journalist who has accounts of similar attacks might seem much more preferable.
The whole innocent until proven guilty line is flawed as well, Saville was never tried in a court.
I cycle most days and pedestrians never cease to amaze me but ringing your bell while on a pavement is pretty arrogant. Also in the park travelling at ridiculous speed while near young children.
I unfollowed after one of his ULEZ rants. I remember seeing a video about people presenting the terrors of electric bikes to a council committee ages ago on his page and remember wondering what the hell that was all about.
A bit late in replying to this. I did the same thing a few months ago. Had to contact Discogs customer service to get it sorted. They “un-cancelled” the order for me, and then it was possible to do a refund.
But yeah, horrible system…
Yeah thats a faff. You used to be able to change order status quite simply. You could set to shipped, then unshipped and add a tracking number if you’d forgotten and stuff like that. Progress eh!
They did that for me in the end but the whole thing took pretty much a week when it should take about five seconds
Yeah, same here. Not doing that mistake again, that’s for sure…
Winner!
Thought they had really tanned upper legs legs until I zoomed in
Worst colour shorts ever.
We need to see the shirt.
I was too focused on the dog tat to notice
What was the record?
Catching up with all the Brand stuff (blissfully offline all week) I was always amazed at how many people fell for this fraud. I remember he did pen a beautifully written tribute to Winehouse after she died so maybe there was a soul there once (?) but seems long lost amidst the ego, opportunistic politics, and what now sounds like an even darker persona
I got a message off a mate of mine last week about him, it read:
‘…On that matter, I was at a party in London circa 2005 with a good mate of mine ex-mrs used to be his P.A, who resigned in haste.
When I asked her why, she looked at the floor and whispered ‘because he punched me in the face”. She was traumatized at having been silenced back then and forced to leave a job she loved…’
I’m guessing from that he’s always been a c*nt.
Him carrying that speaker on his back whilst attending the Anti Vax rallies during covid always made me chuckle.
Liz Truss. WTF! Out of a party, severely lacking in self-awareness, she outshines every chinless ghoul in a cast of many. She’s everything that’s wrong with the libertarian right that the Tories now are. Her speech this week is one of the most jaw-droppingly funny/disturbing things I’ve heard in recent years.
