What don't you get

I’m told by more experienced parents that its cheaper to use a European equivalent of Centreparcs (eg Netherlands) as they have different school term times so it can work out cheaper than booking in the UK. Don’t tell anyone!

Is the expense the extra activities and such? Looking at a weeks price for next summer the accomodation is slightly less than double what we paid at a cheapo caravan park, all we’d do is use the pool and self cater, maybe one or two meals in a restaurant

Its about £2.5 k for a week in august for a ‘lodge’. That gives you entry to the swimming pool complex.
Everything else, and i mean everything else is extra- tennis court, table tennis, mini golf . Laser quest was billed as about £90 for 2 adults and 1 kid and the aerial tree thing with the zip wire was also about the same. Pay for bike hire too- bring your own bikes if you can
I cancelled them when I sobered up the day after booking about another £350 worth of stuff. I worked out that no-one really polices the table tennis or tennis and i bought my own bats and balls on those ones so would slip in. My daughter said loudly as we walked into the sports hall past the reception to play table tennis asked me whether we were going to pay for the table this time…

The activities are the real killer. This time four of us went to the spa which was expensive but lovely (and fairly quiet if you go early doors).

Thanks, I think we’ll be ok then, was planning on buying a bike rack anyway.

The restaurant prices aren’t too terrible but we only went to one over four days and self catered the rest. The on site supermarket has a big mark up but just bring your own stuff and avoid it. If you do the weekend one you can get there at 10am on Friday and spend a day doing activities before you get into your accommodation at 4pm and again on the Monday you can pretty much stay the rest of the day if you want as long as you don’t mind not having your lodge from 11am/12pm.

We did De Eemhof which is about 30 minutes from Utrecht, hour from Amsterdam😃 Super easy to get to. There are about 10+ I think in Holland price was comparable to Eurocamp type holidays in august. Quite surprised.

Tat situation was mixed but interesting (see comment above ^).

Tbf he drew a huge crowd and the weather was amazing, the Sat sunset as I recall. Drifted round the edge of it on the way somewhere else and you could tell it was a “moment” even if not my thing.
