I have to say, most BLC has that affect on me.(Cowles in corner for protection)
Rupert Murdoch (and loads of other CEOs too) is way older that Biden… not sure why this doesn’t get mentioned more.
Having lived in the US for near 50 years now, Nixon was still president when I arrived and gas was about 20 cents a gallon, I think this is spot on. Unfortunately, I still reluctantly think that Biden is our last best chance if for no other reason than he is an old pol and can get things done. Whether they’re the right things is another question. We need fundamental changes and what I see is weak and spotty and not convincing beyond the local level, although perhaps in time circumstances will force Americans to take an honest and real look in the mirror. This also applies to nations other than the US. All industrialized, consumerist societies are facing the same issues.
I’ve believed for a long time that if voting worked it would be illegal. I’m coming around to thinking that if there’s one job category that should be replaced by AI it’s politicians.
And one thing I don’t really get is the current hoohah media frenzy about AI and its regulation. It’s been around and in everyday use for about a decade now. Talk about bolting the stable door after the horse is gone! Of course, there is just one small thing . . .
Why I don’t spend more time digging in my own record shelves.
Turns out I own a ton of stuff I’d forgotten about that’s really good. Who knew?
Recently been made redundant and am promising myself I’ll go on some sort of major archive/sorting mission. So far just been playing lots of records. Time well spent!
the times when you can’t afford new records are often the times you discover the best records…that you already own.
I got quite into the Francois K live Twitch steams…the number of times I shazamed a song only to realise I already owned it ![]()
Mate of mine owns four copies of Blaze - My Beat because he keeps forgetting that he owns it…

How “celebrities” just jump into another career/art form and get away with it. ie Mel C as DJ in the other thread on here. But mainly feeling aggrieved having been to the Royal Academy summer exhibition last night where most of the amazing art was between a couple of hundred quid and in exceptional circumstances into the tens of thousands. Apart from one painting by Joe Lycett which was £1.3m ffs !!! Literally the worst painting in there. He’s a great comedian and no doubt a top bloke but £1.3m??? shakes fist at clouds
Maybe it’s just me, but it seems like the word “iconic” is being used to describe almost everything lately
Isn’t that iconic, don’t you think?
Like when danny rampling became a chef? Or when Damien Hirst decided to own a whole town?
In Australia we have had many years of sporting celebrities just jump straight into being TV hosts, radio DJ’s etc on all manner of shows. Swimmers, rowers, cyclists and every other personality free pursuit. Unsurprisingly, staring at the bottom of a pool 8 hours a day for all of your formative years doesn’t translate into being a sparkling TV persona very often. And don’t get me started on those TV chef twits who will literally do anything if it means that they don’t have to work in a kitchen and be an actual chef.
Why shower curtains come in a little matching bag?
Travel curtains, who wants splash back from hotel shower curtains. ![]()
What you mean people take their own shower curtains to a hotel?
Just a guess ![]()
I think it’s a good use of off cuts and makes the pattern of the contents very obvious. I should’ve been in retail…
Wasn’t that what John Candy did in Planes, trains?
Similarly, every motorcycle cover I’ve ever bought comes in a resuable bag. Try getting a cover back into one, never gonna happen, absolutely pointless!
Shower curtain ring salesman to be precise ![]()
