It’s the guys filming it I don’t get do they go home to their wives and say you missed some night look at this…
Has anyone seen her Only Fans content?!

I don’t get how i’ve only just learned that DJ Moz-Art is Double Dee, Jestofunk and Soft House Company. Just slightly good then.
I don’t get how foreign visitors to the UK are supposed to understand cringey See It Say It Sorted automated security announcements on regional train services.
That new vinyl is so expensive nowadays. New Kyle Hall 12" 4 songs 22 Eu. WTF!
This is the reason it’s become cost effective for me to stop buying 12”s and put it away for CDJ’s (not new) Still buy LP’s but 12’s are just silly now
I think we’ve covered this but what is with DJs playing 90’s pop wank in their sets? Or Horny for that matter. I get the idea of having a moment but Toca’s Miracle is not it.
Or the spice girls
The culprits tend to be younger DJs who would have been kids when these tracks would have been in the charts, so they think its a bit tongue in cheek, nudge nudge wink wink to drop them in thier sets and therefore acceptable. Whereas to us it’s just a proper hold the nose moment
I witnessed Ruf Dug dropping that Murk mix of the Spice Girls at Houghton. It worked in the mix, tbf. Seemed to get a decent reaction from a fairly age diverse crowd. Definitely treat with caution though!
Ha Ruf is probably the exception. He doesnt give a f-k to be fair
Smoove’s obscenely priced edits. Rip off merchant.
A few friends were at Sven Vath last night at Pikes said it so packed they left early and not very Pikes… Can see this kinda thing happening alot more… Hope he didn’t play Techno
This is tricky one. I’ve never really felt that I totally fit in with or align with any pure or particular group/genre, and all the cultural rules and expectations that these idioms(to my understanding)seem to demand. I have been in an early adopter UK hip hop crew, done the proto house and warehouse scene, did acid and rave, did acid jazz era, still around now doing bar gigs with much younger DJ’s and musicians that are embracing the new. I just don’t get, or actually trust or like any collective that places something that might be seen to be “correct” and the platforms they present . I guess my perception from afar on this forum would be something like Pikes. I have never been there nor may ever go there, but in my experience once something is a THING it is generally creatively over. I am just generally expressing my sense of smell on these things , and am certainly guilty of going on and on here, But I feel that I am among friends so this forum and this thread is the place where I will leave this small deposit.
Edit: I have not intended this to be any kind of knock to any kind of anything really(pikes reference especially), just a general expression in the spirit of the thread title.
Frank Tope said to me that all scenes are at there best until they start making music specifically for that scene… i think he’s probably right. Imagine how amazing hip hop must’ve been when it could only be experienced live… Acid Jazz way better before the beige bands waded in…
Don’t get me wrong… in Devon I would never have got to know about these things without those records…
The djs I’d have no problem with, go if you are a fan but it was a safe haven for people who like going to Ibiza for something a little bit different to the other line ups… I’m sure Sven would play a blinder as will DJ Hell. Its just not a very big place.
as I see it Pikes is this fantasy land which markets itself as the last stand for those-that-know amidst the wastelands of Ibiza INC. this mix of heads and beautiful people and casuals and other cultural refugees. Yes it’s Pikes INC too but you kind of let that go because the aesthetic is all you want. So those-that-know are invested in it by necessity because there’s fuck all else at night. Letting techno in is a trojan horse really to everything that Pikes is NOT. Because whilst we all think we’re massively open minded, you know the game is up when the corporate merry go round and their hangers on take over. a slippery slope from techno (ie the carola variant) to all the other sonic sins herding on beatport
I need an old man shouts at clouds moment.
I don’t get the market drenching amount of music released these days. It’s overwhelming and 99% of it is shit, has been done a million times before and only strenghtens generic sub-genres. (to me). It makes digging through new music very dull and tedious, infact, i’ve almost given up, especially with House.
Thankfully I know a place where the peeps have impecable taste and post good recommendations.
