According to various intelligence, the plan was to takeover Kiev (and other cities) within the first 1 - 4 days. The belief being that the regime in Ukraine was seen as illegitimate and any resistance would quickly fall away.
If true, that’s a staggering level of delusion. Of course it was all based on Russia having complete air supremacy and that’s not happened.
My main worry is a lost it Putin doing something stupid on or near the border with Poland. He’s gone all out on a huge gamble.
Putin invades Ukraine. Oil price goes up. Putin makes more money.
I know this isn’t the big picture but it just highlights how fucked up our dependence on fossil fuels is (& the terrible regimes that pump them out of the ground). I hope this marks a big moment of departure.

Blind - Hercules and love affair. The awful vocal, the shitty cheap sounding faux uplifting beat. Yes I know FK invented House music and was a canny lad but people who pass this off as a classic deserve their Muzic Box t-shirt shoved where it don’t shine.

Wow! Totally disagree. It’s the very definition of gorgeous imo. Over the last 15 years, i heard it everywhere from raves in fields to dirty pubs to ibizan chiringuitos and the reaction was a collective smile every time. Just a perfect final half hour E record.
