As someone who has done business & travelled a bit in Russia even I’m in a bit of a shock. We were naïve and thought that the buildup was a gambit - the cost would be too high to go whole hog. Friends in Petersburg & elsewhere were messaging all morning asking about news reports in the west. My in-laws watch exclusively state TV and are clueless.

I thought I’d see what RT were saying about the whole affair - what appeared to be a pro-Russian lady castigating a Ukrainian soldier (now a prisoner) for ‘slaughtering Russian children’ in Donetsk or somewhere. News anchor talking military tasks and then a trailer for the Alex Salmond show.
How come we’re allowing this shite to be beamed into our homes via Sky?

it’s the destruction of schools and nurseries that really sets me off. I barely understand what’s going on, young children certainly don’t, and yet they’re caught up in it as explicit targets.

I think and hope he’s majorly mis-calculated on this. In Chechyna they could dress it up as ‘battling extemists’ or such like which your average Russian conscript could get behind to a certain extent. But this…whilst the special forces do as they’re ordered; the grunts surely have no real appetite for fighting people that they so closely related and linked to.
It’s horrific.
