Yeah, he’s great in that, think that was the first thing I noticed him in.
Loved him in the Detectorists. He also does a voice over for a kids spelling app that I can’t remember the name of.
And Hugh Grant as Oompa Loompa was great
Going this week and looking forward to it. For some inexplicable reason it’s £22 on our local Odeon and £7 at Cineworld. We have Odeon Unlimited so it doesn’t matter to us but it’ll put people off surely?
Sounds a bit steep. I saw it at a local independent cinema so was pretty reasonable. Won’t it be on at the DCA in Dundee?
Have never been to the cinema there always just go for drinks and food.
DCA screens are great, we’ve been loads although less so since we got the Odeon Unlimited. Was just odd how much different the prices were in different screens!
Just watched this. Really enjoyed it.
BlackBerry. Very entertaining. Bits were a little annoying but good story.
Going to a screening of the Apocalypse Now Final Cut in 4K at Prince Charles Cinema on Saturday night. Never seen it on the big screen. Might have to eat a square of chocolate to fully immerse in the vibe.
Anatomy of a Fall. Wow. Mesmerising, incredible acting from all corners. Can’t stop thinking about it. Also, will never think of 50 Cent’s “P.I.M.P.” the same way again.
It’s absolutely wonderful in 4K on the big screen!
I saw Apocalypse Now at the first IMAX in Bradford when very very stoned 30+ years ago. Intense. Not as intense as watching Planet of the Apes on LSD mind you.
Tommy on Acid. I don’t think I’ve ever got over the sheer terror of Tina Turner as the Acid Queen
This sounds interesting
Oh yes, looking forward to that.
Enjoyed Saltburn more than I thought I would. Expected a style over substance art house fest, while there is a bit of that it mostly works on its own terms. The ending is a little bit too on the nose though. Barry Keoghan really is a great actor
Going to see stop making sense tonight! It’s on at our local arts centre - called the plough (!) it’s generally gets the major films about 6 months later which is good cos you know if it’s worth watching by then - post punk/new wave disco on afterwards too
Yes to all that. Also, it’s at least 75% straight out of Evelyn Waugh, the plot, characters, dialogue, setting, everything. Basically Brideshead Revisited, Revisited. Still worth a watch for sure but didn’t live up to the hype for me.
Agree on the ending (though loved the last scene). There’s a better version of this movie where it’s left more ambiguous & sinister.
I watched it at the cinema when it came out. Afternoon screening. A couple actually walked out at the “bath” scene! Agree that it was generally enjoyable if not as good as it might have been.
Last minute one for London folks.
I’ve got two spare tickets to watch the Final Cut of Apocalypse Now at Prince Charles Cinema just off Leicester Sq. It’s on at 8pm.
Let me know if you want them.
I’m going, I’ve just been let down by the people I was going with.
