Chuck always knew.
‘ Elvis was a hero to most,
But he never meant s- to me you see,
Straight up racist that sucker was,
Simple and plain,
Mother f- him and John Wayne.’
Looking forward to seeing it. Sophia Coppola goes from strength to strength.

Great posters too.
I love Jeffery Wright. This is immediately on the list.
Saw Past Lives last night. Wonderful film, felt a bit of a lump in my throat at the end.
Did ask my wife (who moved to the UK from New Zealand about 30 years ago), if a Kiwi called Brendan was likely to randomly turn up in London any time soon.
Agree. Brilliant stuff.
Watched Tar last night … brilliant.
Saw Tar at the cinema when it came out. As someone who is partial to a bit of interior design and mid century modern furniture, I was obsessed both by the Berlin apartment she shared with her partner and the small bolt hole she used in order to work in solitude.
Really intense film though.
Haha me too Ian! All that concrete …
I think Past Lives is the best film I watched last year. Also watched a new one called Totem that is good. A family saga from a child’s eye.
Past Lives is a beauty. Just seen Priscilla - very good though the last part seemed rushed. The actor playing Priscilla Presley knocks it out the park.
Saw May December - your mileage may vary, but fantastic performances from Julianne Moore, Natalie Portman, & Charles Melton (who nearly steals the show). Todd Haynes does this thing where he plays with soap opera tropes and I think it works here in spite of the heavy handed theme music (nicked from Michel Legrand’s The Go-Between)…
Just watched Anatomy Of A Fall at the cinema. Amazing. What a film. Superb performances all round and leaves you needing to make your own decision about what might have happened.
Just watched this move recently and must say it was really good. There was some odd continuity issues, but overall an entertaining flick
Loved that - think it was Jonathan Demme’s first film after Stop Making Sense.
Saw Wonka with the kids. Fuck the critics. I loved it. Had a minor tear moment at the end also.
Anyone know where I stream/rent Legacy In The Dust: The Four Aces Story? Can’t seem find it anywhere.
It’s not for rent as far as I know. There was a version on You Tube once. The Director had major licensing issues with the soundtrack when it first appeared and I believe is still trying (again) for the funding for a full release. Might be worth contacting him directly: Winstan Whitter. It has been showing in a few places recently.
We took the kids over Xmas, I thought it would be another Hollywood cash-in but it was great - Simon Farnaby strikes again (Horrible Histories, Ghosts, Paddington)
Simon Farnaby has just got one of those faces and voices that makes me laugh without him doing anything, just watched him in The Detectorists as Art, the Garfunkle-alike, the funniest character in it.
Enjoyed his performance in Mindhorn.
