The Ibiza Thread

I hadn’t yet had my proper disco/balearic etc musical awakening when I was going to Ibiza. Went 4 times between 2001 and 2005, had a great time but they were quite laddish affairs and was firmly there for boring RA style house and techno.

By the time I was into the music I’m into now, Croatia and Electric Elephant was a better fit for me.

However, my brother is having his wedding there in 2022 and I’m looking forward to hopefully finding a small piece of the balearic spirit alive and well out there.

I’m off to Ibiza 21st Aug for a couple of weeks (fingers crossed etc!).

Managed to swing it so my mate and I fly out on Sat 21st but wives and kids not until the Monday.

So if anyone has got any tips for a quality Test Pressing vibe Ibiza night out on Sat 21st August I would be very grateful.

Thank you!

I will certainly keep my eyes out, though probably best not to get your hopes up. I can offer food/beach tips aplenty though.

Ahh thanks. Any beach and restaurant tips also greatly appreciated!

not too sure who’s about but barwise, Andy Wilson, Fred & Bekka, Ian Kennedy amongst the locals usually doing stuff. Pippi’s there too. Camilo Miranda at Pikes, (Nightmares on Wax?) then there’s Namaste at Dalias, which am hoping to squeeze in. My hopes are even lower than usual music wise, if it really is just a case of background filler this year. we’re staying in SE and going with flow even if it is just a gallon of hierbas on the beach. oh yeah and Jon Sa Trinxa is back from Far East although just doing one-offs at Salinas now (unless he got his full gig back)

We’re going to wait until 2023 to book any foreign holiday… Going to Dublin later this week to pick up a new bike and West Cork on Monday for 4 nights…

So it looks like my Ibiza trip is on. 2weeks from 21st August. Really can’t believe it actually might be happening.

Would love to hear any locals’ tips for off the beaten track beaches and family restaurants.

@hungreyboy @Hierbas @Phil or any more Ibiza crew on here your recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Based on 2019 trip: Cala Nova beach on nice day and El Bigotes for food (book table now) , Malanga + Paradise Lost for bar music, la torre has some good djs for sunset but staff are pushy and some punters a bit annoying, so i’d stick around for a couple of drinks, check if putumayo cafe near cala gracio still going, used to be lovely, also sa trinxa seems like only place to get any dancing going right now, total cheesefest but as good as it gets. Dalias worth a shout too, rules may change over nxt few weeks. We’re getting ferry over on 30th under no illusions but here’s hoping. Oh yeah, silencio new beach bar - had good reports

Thank you!

We’ve booked for 18-25 September at a place we normally stay in Puig d’en Valls. Can’t wait to get back and eat and drink and swim in the water. With that being said @Phil and the rest of the ibiza residents….any bars for a late drink and music always welcome, and Pikes for a day of music too given it’s a different proposal this year with no raving in Freddie’s.

Sorry for my late on this - It’s pretty busy here.
I second @Hierbas tips, especially El Bigotes. To these I would add:

SoulGood - My mate Yuris’s bar just north of Santa Eulalia. Always good music from their playlists, but Fridays they have @sadeedomusic playing. Good prices, great drinks and right by the sea.
Chiringuito Pascual - In the port of San Miguel. Great value burgers with an amazing view in the port of San Miguel. Walk the path alongside for a little while to find a quiet cove for a swim.
Casa Llasa - Ace natural wine bar/shop run by some good friends. Great food using predominantly local produce- not messed around with, just good. San Lorenzo/.
Es Pins - Just down the road from the aforementioned. Good value local fare in a step back in time environment.
Cala Llenya - Nice all round beach near to the village of San Carlos where you can pop into Las Dalias if that type of thing takes your fancy, Bar Anita for old school Ibiza vibes and the great Restuarante San Carlos for excellent steak.
Balafia - Bookings essential. Lamb chops cooked over wood, chips and tomato and onion salad - tried and tested formula for time for good reason.
Bar Costa - Cheap and cheerful sandwich gaff in the village of Santa Gertrudis - Good breakfast spot.

I could go on (and on). Please feel free to hit me up for specific tips. Be mindful car rental prices are pretty ludicrous by all accounts, but obviously essential for exploration.

That’s great thank you very much @hungreyboy

Lots of interesting new ideas there. Absolutely perfect. And I know what you mean about car rental prices!

Car rental prices are eye watering there at the moment. Need one though so we’ll have to bite the bullet…

@hungreyboy and @Hierbas our unofficial Ibiza tourist board……

Any tips for a day out to Formentera? Going to jump on the ferry. Never been there before so any ideas on Beach/restaurant that’s not too insane? Cheers guys!

Any tips, try book everything weeks before you go ibiza forums are saying boat trips restaurants, beds at beach clubs and not the trendy ones. This would be a complete nightmare for me and my lot. Even if I mention to Mrs earlier in the day we should go to CDM tonight could be a good good sunset. She go  we’re on holidays

You’re spot on. We are booking a few things up now on the basis it’s easier to change plans rather than be disappointed at the time.

Anyway I’ve got the sound system for the villa sorted so that’s the main thing. And all the other numbers I might need. I’m sure the rest will fall into place!

Head to Migjorn - Kiosko 62 for drinks, La Fragata or Es Codol de Foradat for lunch/dinner. I’m guessing it must be absolutely rammed over there. I’ve just returned from the south of the island here - so hectic. Keep it north and avoid all beach clubs.

Yeah I wouldn’t worry to much maybe book your favourite restaurant just to be safe for a night out…

Avoid anything saying Fusion or Beach Club and you will have a ball

I heard a local Dj called s/a/m does the chiringuito es cavallet on sundays. Apparently decent. Heading there on 5th. Dunno how relaxed they are about peoole letting off steam. If you can’t get a table you can still hear the music from the rocks. There’s also a guy called andi piper doing sa trinxa (generic loungey stuff i think) possibly as good as it gets. We’re getting ferry sunday night. Booked wrong one. 13.5 hr journey via palma lol
