The Ibiza Thread

Pacha is like the highest point of Clubs. The real meaning of Perfect for clubs. The answer of ‘How a club should be?’ I would like to say it was amazing but I know its not gonna be enough for my feelings about Pacha.

The closest I’ve ever been is the Cafe del Mar at Isla Mujeres in Mexico. It’s branded as a Cafe del Mar bar, but it’s really just a small palapa with two or three tables and speaker that plays Cafe del Mar comps on shuffle all day. You know what, I loved it. It felt like home even though it was nowhere near the real thing!

Yer OK, it will never be better than it is in your mind, but it is pretty dope so long as you know where to go…and there are shitloads of places to enjoy off the generated hype machine and if you’re not super pasty white afraid of sunshine and stuff

Rumour of mambos opening in Brighton. I can’t see anything happening on the White Isle this summer, lots of brands are already jumping ship and heading east…

Its gonna be only reason to go to Brighton for me then

I attended Pacha Ibz in 2019 on a free guestlist. Sterile tourist selfie vibe despite Dixon’s best efforts. Game over.

It will sure be a success. I know in winter months they get some nice sunsets dunno about summer…

Went to Pacha in Sitges, sat around till 2.30, three people in the place, awful… closest I’ve been to Ibiza.

(Think it’s the ‘Original’ not sure if the White Isle folk own it now tho)

Ricardo Urgell sold the Pacha group to a private equity firm a couple of years back. They’ll not have had much return this past year on the €350m they paid for it mind…

That was the very first one he opened in the late 60’s before opening the Ibiza one in '73

They removed Dixon from Pacha. He went to DC10.

there’s more to ibiza than watching a dodgy documentary lol

I haven’t been since a couple of trips in 2006. First went in 1989, went back in 90 and 91, then didn’t go again until 2005, when I ended up going three times. I’m sure we’ll take the kids over at some point, but there are plenty of other places to see.

I may need to pick your brains soon please

I went once in '90 and again in '92, because friends were going. I like the location, but wasn’t massively sold on the music. Jose Padilla and Chris coco came down to Sydney and played a gig at an outdoor venue. They failed to get the crowds attention is the best way I could describe what happened. There was sun, a view of the water etc, but it all felt a little like easy listening for the Sydney crowd.

booked a few days early Sept with missus, on some new Italian ferry service (squiffy booking, didn’t realise it stops at Palma en route :grinning: ). musical expectations pretty limited, given things are still a bit dead but hopef Malanga, Paradise Lost, La Torre, Dalias, Pikes will serve something up for the adults. there’s always something magical there that keeps us going back.

We have two weeks booked in September. Part business but mainly holiday. Just keeping our fingers crossed between now and then

I’ve been out here for 13 years, which still feels pretty odd to say. Please feel free to reach out should you require any guidance.
