I was just talking to my eldest about this video. Had a search through this thread but couldn’t find it. Thanks

could be? i generally try to skate FAST as it reduces the chance of getting pitched.

i think my problem really is that i used to have a fantastic strength-to-weight ratio and both of those have sadly gone in the wrong directions.

Yeah fitness helps. I am certainly not as lean as I used to be!

anyone collect decks? i got into it for a while but frankly, i can only support one expensive habit at a time. plus, i love screened decks and the overwhelming majority now are cheap heat transfers that crack after a few years.

like all skaters my age i was a massive gonz fan and his “gonz & roses” (aka sweatpants) graphic was a game-changer at the time - a clue that not everything was gonna be swords & skulls for much longer. i skated a LOT of the original G&R decks at the time, but saved none - and now they’re hella expensive in show shape. i buy the re-issues or tributes and made a little wall out of them:

also bought a lot of the girl/chocolate decks (though i’ve sold a few of them) as well as enjoi - plus designs from my local shop: https://35thnorth.com/ because of record shelves, i have a whole lot less wall space for displays than most. that’s ok, i can rotate the collection.

Bit like you started a ‘art’ based collection early 90’s but have sold everything except these last few, will keep them as they have lot of sentimental value now. Signed G&S Skip Frye fibre flex is my precious.

Nice. I dont have any of those decks but looks like I might have the same wood burning stove. Is that a Morso?

That Supreme Pantone deck is a beauty!

I had a dry spell with work a couple of years back and had to sell my 5 Supreme x Damien Hirst decks - managed to make some decent money back.

I still have several others; Supreme x Chapman Brothers, Supreme x Andrei Molodkin, the Blind Powell parody decks and the Gonz version of the Blind Powell parody decks. Will post photos at some point.

How many sweat pants do you have?

Bought it in NYC from James when he had just opened, mad trip, stayed at the Paramount, went to Body & Soul for the first time, when we had some $$$, seems like a lifetime ago.

Ha!

They used to be notorious back in the 00s, but I have to admit to never getting too much grief. Definitely at odds with the staff nowadays in the London store who are much more personable.

The tip was to not touch the folded t-shirts on display. :joy:

Lol they wouldn’t sell my mate a shirt as it was the last one on display haha my mate a none skater and tough paddy couldn’t believe it, it wasn’t even in the window just displayed on a hanger with lock and chain. So I said lets go up Chinatown and find a fake one and by 10…

First shop, was it opposite Union, can’t remember, mate who I was with knows James so didn’t have to deal with any shop twats.

Thought all that nonsense was over at my age until I went into Nige Cabourn shop before lockdown, never going in there again. Bellends.

It wasn’t far from the original XL store just down the road…

Used to be able to pick up Supreme in London around the early 00s at Bond International on Newburgh Street and obviously (pre-Hideout) Hit & Run. Remember buying more substantial pieces late 90s before any mail order from the Hong Kong based Concept Store.

While I still like the odd Supreme item each season I miss the days when their approach and branding was far more covert than the vibrant graphic image they have now.
