Talbot is a lovely pub. Stopped in after a walk round the village about a million years ago before this shitstorm

Just gonna kick start this thread again as hopefully there’s a few more city types that have seen the light and have moved down here recently.

I’m playing at the new lion brewery just outside totnes next Sunday afternoon (18th) it’s a great family friendly venue with a nice play ground outside of the weather is good. Obvs good beers and decent veggie food too. It also has a pretty good sound system and totally amazing records played by me from 1-6pm

@Spider does a regular Sunday pub sesh in Exeter if anyone is in that area

Nice! We’re away this weekend - how come you’ve switched venues?

Earlier in the week it looked like rain so, i had to make a call if i was going to move it. Also, the old venue no longer has the sound guy who provided decks etc… it is a massive hassle for me to move my decks etc via taxi. I was moving to Saturdays at Bomba anyway from next month so, i simply suggested a little trial run. Bomba is a lovely venue with great sound etc…

Oh nice! Saturday evenings too or just day time?

3- 9ish… same as the Sundays were… The venue owner seems pretty excited about it, which is half the battle.
I used to run a more jazz funky/soul thing same hours a few years back and that was really popular… i just don’t want to be tied to that music.

Born in Cornwall, lived in Plymouth but, alas, now living in “that London.”

Discovered hip hop and house in the unlikely environs of Quasars near St Austell and Tall Trees in Newquay(the middle floor was the “upfront” dance space), DJ very heavily influenced by what James Hamilton reviewed in Record Mirror. Also benefitted from the presence of black American’s from the nearby US Airforce base in Newquay. Moved to Plymouth in time to experience acid house (a movement that had a false start with about 20 people being present for a Paul Oakenfold Land Of Oz night, believe Francois Parker was also there), through the full on smoke machine. strobes and chemical madness of Zena’s on a Friday night and Saturday at Cultural Vibes . Bit of lull, but then a love for more considered and leftfield dance music was ignited via Phil Bank’s small but legendary parties under various guises, saw and chatted to some great DJ’s which he brought down (the likes of Phil Mison, Kelvin Andrews, Unabombers, Felix Dickinson and Balearic Mike). Wonderful nights.
And yes, I still enjoy a dry cider.

Jon is the founder of the Lo Recordings label and makes music as Seahawks and Ocean Moon. Graham is an award winning artist whose work has been shown at the Royal Academy, the Brazilian Embassy and many more venues of note.

It’s a great place for families too with a nice play park right outside perfect for us Balearic mums and dads- great food- massive vegan kebabs and pizzas and obviously a great choice of beers

Currently, just got back from Hell Lane, one of the Dorset Holloway’s. I love these lanes, their feeling of permanence and mystery, people have been walking these places for thousands of years slowly leaving their mark in many ways.

I’m a Scot that went to school in Tavistock of all places, and that’s how I got to know Phil Banks (he was mates with my mate from Plymouth’s brother) and still catch up now and then. Went to a few nights at the Warehouse in Plymouth and a few SAS parties around '91

Next gig at the brewery formally known as the new lion just outside totnes

Great place for families as it has a playground right outside and if weather is good we play outside. If wet it’s inside with a decent sound system. Loads of great beers and amazing vegan kebabs

Playing all afternoon with my mate Ben who is amazing dj with one of the biggest and best record collections I’ve seen- will be lots of fun

I went to some amazing clubs in my life but none has the personal warm memories of The Timepiece around 93-94. Are there any photos, videos, anything?
