One of the very best. Larry Heard live was off the clock.
Just found this from 1000 years ago, when VW gave a keynote speech at our conference. All the other speakers were human rights lawyers and political campaigning experts. She made no sense at all and everyone loved her.
Had a nice chat Bill Nighy in Ceccioni’s when myself and Mrs Chris were having a drink at the bar in October. He was absolutely lovely. Next night we were in J Sheekey and Ben Wishaw was sat next to us, then Michael Gove walked in and killed the vibe. Flight home we had Anton Du Beke next to us!
He didn’t start dancing did he?!
Not on this occasion
My wife kicked me under the table and mouthed “behave” when I involuntarily said “Oh for fuck sake” a bit too loud as he was taken to his table just behind us
Bill Nighy lives just down the road from Ceccioni’s, in that trippy development, Albany, opposite Savile Row. Used to be only bachelors that were allowed to live there, but think they allow women to apply nowadays.
Just been reading up on Albany, “the haunt of bachelors, or of married men who try to lead bachelors’ lives – the dread of suspicious wives, the retreat of superannuated fops, the hospital for incurable oddities, a cluster of solitudes for social hermits, the home of homeless gentlemen … the place for the fashionable thrifty, the luxurious lonely and the modish morose."
For an estate agents blurb it makes a change from “luxury appartments”
Just come across this on my hard drive.
It’s a 4 parter, will listen this week.
Tonka era?
Bit after the peak of Tonka I think but caught a few of their things. Positive Sounds was the main sound system at Black Rock parties then as I recall (hazily).
Got to Brighton too late for that, by which time it was all about Skint
Do remember seeing Eubank in his truck but that might’ve been later?
Yes. My mate used to work at Browns restaurant and Eubank used to park it outside.
I was in Brighton 92-98. The Big Beat / Skint years 96-98 and Zap, Shark Bar, Escape, the old Sainsbury’s, black rock etc before then.
Great times.
Had a few friends who lived in Brighton. Always managed to catch a glimpse of his truck whenever we went down there. Man about town and that
He used to drive it all the way up to Brixton for a haircut and park on Coldharbour Lane causing absolute chaos. Twat.
I mean, wtf is the Glass Door algorithm doing recommending this job for me? Haven’t they heard my Noel Gallagher story?
Is that a liaison role for ‘senior celebrities’ like Clint Eastwood, the Pope and the like? Or is it a senior-level role for celebrity liaison? I’m a bit confused here…
Nice one - made me laugh!
I think they’ve heard your retirement home plans
He also ran someone over and killed them
