Show Us Your Records aka Through The Keyhole

I lost my cheap Lisbon storage and had to move the records up to Porto to my temporary accomodation. Moving again in April so haven’t bothered unpacking. They’ve been in boxes for the last4 years, along with my Straight No Chaser and CD collection. If I ever find my permanent home I’ll post an update

How’s that Bosch mixer? Good for smooth(ie) transitions?

The longest smoothest pumpkin and carrot soup transitions I’ve ever tasted :grinning:

Scott / Anyone - Where can you source similair stands in UK

These are nice but price

i was going to do this a long time ago, but i never got around to it. plus, i didn’t really like a whole lot about my setup - i basically live in a glorified storage unit, it’s comfortable for me but it looks like my sloppy 15yo self’s dreams realized, which would be fine except i’m damn near 50 and it’d be nice if i put some effort into classing the place up. it could use a good rug, paint, and a nice set of bespoke record shelves. anyway,

looking southeast, cameo by my sleepy dog:

looking south - the workstation, soundsystem, and piles of junque:

looking north - it’s photos like this that make me hate my generic-ass carpeting:

looking southwest - turntables and MPC plus some of my oddball gear. oh, and a swim~ record that i’m currently listening to:

basement life!

i didn’t choose it, it was here when we bought the place.

Mine was just like that! I actually liked it a lot, switched to an A&H but I still have this one somewhere…

Expedit v kallax size differential on full view there.

I think that’s just from stacking multiple units, the extra height is from the doubled up external thickness. He thought a 4-cube would store all the records he would ever have initially. How wrong that turned out to be.

Anyway, nice room. Very tidy, plenty of space. You could have a little rave in there. Shoes off, of course.

At least you have a carpet! Ensoniq DP4 and JD990 need some love though!

right you are - i’ve moved a few times, and my storage solutions have changed house to house. my old house was strangely shaped so i used 2x2 expedits along a long wall and then stacked on top of them. then, when we bought this house i had a 4x4 that sat next to stacked 2x2s and the height is a bit off. it messes with my OCD.

A mighty fine array of tunage. What do the dividing labels denote on the ‘north’ pic?

alphabetical by label, the lil’ post-it notes have the label names:

I like the idea of organising records in some way but I’m not sure I could remember all the labels so I don’t know how helpful I’d find that. Still, much better than no order.

For house music it’s perfect I guess. I can see the Guidance label there.

i’ve kept a pretty solid organizational system for a while, and it’s worked well for me:

the majority is organized by artist, alphabetically
next biggest is by label, alphabetically
i have jazz, soul, and hip hop sections sorted alphabetically (which feels like a form of segregation and i hate it)
boxes of new arrivals and recent acquisitions that will eventually be plied into the other sections

and for that reason, if i can think of it, i can usually put hands on it within a few minutes. SUCCESS!
