Show Us Your Records aka Through The Keyhole

Jealousy vibes at a solid 100 here.

The mrs decided she wanted to move her work from home setup out of the dining room, swapping places with my setup. It’s a real improvement, tho still trying to figure out placement for everything—2 years into pandemic/collecting records semi-seriously i am running out of space in the two little cabinets. Chicago houses of a certain age often have these great dormer windows that push out, really nice light and shape for the space.

Is that insulated? If not, aren’t you considered about the records being out there in the winter?

I dream to have a setup like that someday

Always enjoy looking at this site

This was (IMHO) is one of the most impressive ones

Don’t think so, but I’ve got a heater in there and it’s doubled up as an enforced office space over the last 2 years so I’m there a fair bit. Not sure how productive I’ve been!

More of an issue in the summer as it’s south facing, so you need to be careful not to leave too many records out if the doors are open….defo something to consider if you’re thinking about getting one

Impressive console but where are all the records?

In another room😂

Very nice but, is anyone else just thinking about their poor back stretching over to put records on?

‘Following a week of trawling through more than 120,000 albums, 12 inches and seven inches, at the Suffolk home affectionately dubbed “Peel Acres”, the job was done’

Yeah, righto. That’s only a weeks work!

Wow. That’s insane. Thanks for sharing.

That’s what I thought. Does say later Peel had his own paper cards for filing so maybe it was a week to get those organised. Otherwise you’re talking years! What a mission though it would be well worth the time spent.

There is a show about it on 6 Music this Sunday at 1, just heard the trailer for it.

I bet it’s missing loads of disco and house classics. I probably wouldn’t call it the “best record collection in the world”. Does it have any Walter Gibbons or Ron Hardy acetates… I’m sure it’s got every release by Extreme Noise Terror. Lolz.

A quick browse has pulled out A.R. Kane, M.F.S.B, wackies, and radioactive man, along with Terence Trent Darby, haircut 100 and mc hammer and we know he was a big Sheena Easton fan. Never less than eclectic.
