Quite a sweet profile of the guy behind the Punjabi Disco album (and his mum who sounds awesome)
Thanks for this, I was only watching this amusing interview about it the other day
Really looking forward to its re-issue with remixes coming out at the end of the month.
Barney Ronay is the main reason I stopped listening, somehow manages to make you feel like you are being patronised every time he speaks and Barry seemed to just become a parody of himself, sounded pissed most of the time
I’ve never listened to this podcast, or any football podcast, 95% of them know sweet FA and are making it up as they go along/parroting the current popular opinion, but Ronay’s pieces in the Guardian are enough to put me off.
Is Barry, Barry Glendinning? If it is he always sounds pissed whenever I hear his gormless tones on talksport just before I quickly change channels.
Haven’t listened to this yet but may be of interest given all the KLF chat.
The million quid thing has obviously been rinsed to death but Miranda Sawyer is a good sort and Joe Muggs knows his stuff:
Yep same Barry
Always enjoyed Football Weekly when James Richardson was hosting and Max Rushden did a good job when he took over. But there’s too much bloody football in general and I rarely keep up these days.
Just had this on in the car on the way home. I can confirm it is indeed a great listen.
I am listening to the Irvin Welsh episode, he’s great and it’s definitely an interesting topic for the series. I think that the nineties are the new sixties.
Some podcasts of the Tim Ferris show are really worth a listen. A lot of great advice in this episode and an interesting life story, the author got into ayahuasca in his sixties. His comments on cleansing psychologically and spiritually are really worth your time.
Maybe it has been been shared already, but I loved the Sonic Groove episode with Luke Slater.
Also plan to listen to the episodes with Miss Kittin, Mike Banks and Mike Parker
Sorry if a repost but this is a good listen with great music by Gruff Rhys too!
Thought this was great!
Up the road from me. Used to know a couple of the old faces.
Great story that would make a good film.
Every trip I ever bought as a young man the dealer would always claim they were part of Operation Julie’s lost stash.
Me too
Somewhere in an abandoned welsh farmhouse
Not punk. But I really like his voice. Just good company.
Me too! Nice one, @J_C. Am on the fourth episode - it’s gripping stuff.
