New Radio 4 series on psychedelics

And also a more sceptical programme on whether research into psychedelic therapy underplays the harms

Ive been doing a lot of driving the past month between my offices in London, Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham. Podcasts have definitely eased the journeys.

Here are my picks

BBC podcasts tend to be higher quality than some random people

The Gaangster series inc Encro Chat was good ( and the Welsh acid one)

Just finished Rest if History 5 parter on WW1 ( & its only the start) - recommended & I hated history at school

surprised nobody has mentioned the Joe Wilkinson and David Earl podcast yet. It’s irreverent and irrelevant in equal measures and also oddly comforting.

Most entertaining character I’ve heard interviewed in a long while! 100% worth a listen.

Listened to about half a dozen of these over the last few days. Wonderful nonsense. :joy:

Enjoying Wisecrack - US true crime take on a real UK case via a comedian but too many adverts

Another great episode on Miranda Sawyer’s 90s pod. This time about Catlemortom.

The recent Dave Rowntree one was a good listen too.

I’ve just finished the Rest Is History “Irish War Of Independence and Civil War” series. Essential listening, shameful how little I knew about the events, individuals and context involved.

I heard that one a few months ago too and am of the same opinion. My school days were long time ago but it wasn’t even mentioned as far as I can remember.

Can’t remember if I posted in the Small Claims thread, but… Stewart Lee stayed in one of the three cottages just along the road from me this August, up in Orkney. My daily walk involves passing them from the shore back to my house. Turns out he loves Orkney and comes often. Big archeology fan. He (and his younger squeeze and kids) moved in to the cottage next to the one my brother and family were in.

Enjoying this, not as chin-strokingly up itself as I thought, takes a deeper dive. Most of journos are decent too, thankfully Barney Ronay isn’t on it too often :grinning:

I listen to that quite a bit and it’s always good.

Lol, Ronay’s awful.

I can’t stand him, apart from sid lowe the guardian football writers are uniformly awful, think they are above it all.

Too much Miguel Delaney for my liking…
