Oooh you smell nice!

First comment off other Fragrance forum. ‘Sweet banana with metallic notes’

Here’s another thing on topic, do you remember back in the day Girls used to wear Dewberry Oil? I mean 88 clubbing era, now some of the lads wore Patchouli oil as well, they were both big and part of early rave scene nights out.

Mate Emma used to wear Dewberry but more often Mango oil! She used to leave me notes she’d covered in that stuff! Stank the place out

But yeah Patchouli was big… festi/hippy/goth/traveller/rave crossover? Remember I had a brief flirtation with it about '87 but I always felt it a was a bit too Goth for me (More Richards terrority at that time)

Commodity’s Book was my favorite fragrance until I found Mister Green … enough time has passed from the troublesome associations I had with it that I’m tempted to revisit it… Wool is nice too

All i know, is that it started as a kickstarter/crowd funder. Then appeared in an upmarket department store in the states. Loads of it very cheap on ebay now

Anyone tried the new Hermes for Men H24?

It seems to be getting some early love, and appears to be very unique.

@moodynanNo No, want to send me a decant😜

It’s interesting, isn’t it? I find I wear the more feminine and lighter ones in the spring/summer. Another Luca rec I love is the vintage Diorella which is basically Eau Sauvage with a dollop of Jasmine–lovely stuff with a linen shirt on the beach. It’s great especially if you enjoy (as I do) the original Eau Sauvage in all its dapper + stubble glory. Dzing! by L’artisan Parfumeur is another soft leather/feminine I like. Annick Goutal’s Sables has the fenugreek/maple syrup sunny thing going on–utterly unique and I’ve never smelt anything else like it.

Hey I’ve read about those, both. Have now got LT 2018 reviews, which is a howling read, the 1 stars get given short shrift in there. From what I can make out, the 4 Vert Line by TF get the highest accolades, I’m doubly happy after discovering this - for one of mine pictures upthread he says “would make a great dandified masculine” this about one I love and at same time wondered strongly about the strength of its flamboyance. Read enough about things and you can discover a lot, my theres nothing more I could want than that appraisal by Luca

There is a time and place for Eau Savage original, just as there is for any Fougere

I need to get the updated book, still have the 2008 edition. I had mixed success in trying out the feminines he recommended. Some like the ones above were ace (add to that my beloved Cuir de Russie as well as Bulgari Black) but I could not pull off Odalisque from PdN and Kenzo Flower only with a tuxedo. Any TF you would recommend in particular? I’ve tried a few as samples and was never really that impressed (Tuscan Leather, Neroli Portofino, Black Orchid).

I’d go for the Vert Line. X 4 of them with Vert de Fleur and Vert Boheme tops, and I live Vert Encens. Then the Atelier D’Orient is 4 more rare ones and I think these were before Estee Lauder bought and they started with the daft names.

Thanks–these sounds great. Have you tried the Diptyque Phylosykos? Not much for longevity, but an incredible fig note.

Designed the packaging /logo etc for this range, first job out of College. Until a year ago when the Mrs cleaned it out it was still going strong, and I mean strong! Too much for me… used to sell in Liberty and Oggetti. Still get random emails from people trying to track it down, did it in like '86 I think. Give me a shout if you find it out fossicking @mfJason , had to reply just to use fossicking again, great word!

Did it arrive yet? What your weekend treats.? I received Vert Boheme today. I’m Over moon with it, it’s green joy for my nose. Freshest grassy scent I have so far and tributes to Vent Vert and vintage scents. Spring in a bottle.

Just showed up from DSM yesterday…drydown smells exactly like summer at the beach, so evocative. Huge sunscreen note. This is why I love perfumes. Thanks again for the tip X
