Hi scent people. I couldn’t offer anything on this thread when you started it and was pretty surprised by the level of knowledge and the depth to this topic. All v interesting.
And today I saw this: record label Let’s Play House have launched their own versions. Nightclub and Dayclub.
One has base notes of Magic Mushrooms!
This may be a joke. I’m not fully awake yet. But it looks like it’s the start of something big in the spin off product world. We need a TP Forum version so we can identify each other in dark nightclubs!

Just landed. Kick of juniper and smells like a GnT in the best way—surprisingly retro for Chanel.
In a neat bit of synchrony came upon this cool piece in the LRB on the common origins of Chanel 5 and the ur-Soviet perfume Red Moscow:
I’ve literally never worn a fragrance in my life, but I had a sniff of this at the weekend and I think I love it
Is all the good stuff similarly eye-wateringly priced?

Yeah sadly 50ml is around £240 retail.
You can usually get better deals online at places like allbeauty, notino, fragrance shop or even house of fraser. Some offer 20% discount at certain times of the year.

Erm and relatedly (or maybe not) I’ve become a bit obsessed with making the house smell nice, especially after being locked down for 18 months with a dog, a cat, four sons and sniff possibly some kind of damp problem somewhere.
Got one of those room infusers but can’t really find a scent I like.
Any tips?

Just bought a bottle of this from Essential Parfums.
I’ve seen it described as a “futuristic woody space apple with just enough vetiver to keep it grounded”. Can’t argue with that tbf.
It smells pretty darn amazing.
Bought anything lately that has literally blown you away?

My wife bought me Creed Aventus for xmas. Its been around forever, but I’d never had it before or even had a sniff, and I absolutely love it. Stays all day and is just lovely. Price is a bit sharp but I’ll buy again 100%

Splurged on an xmas gift for my wife & me - found a new bottle on Ebay at significant markdown from retail. Unisex enough so we both can wear it. Sumptuous stuff, a sort of apple-oud-rose accord that reminds me of shisha smoke in a way. Gorgeous.
