Oooh you smell nice!

Don’t want to alarm you in any way, but is there any written indication that they are testers either on the box or the bottle?

The reason I’m asking is that Tom Ford don’t / didn’t make specific tester bottles, especially for the Private Blends line. They just used to allocate a certain number for shops / retail, sometimes scratching away the TF logo on the box and bottle.

If they smell ok, I’d say you were good, but there are a LOT of TF fakes on eBay.

It was a seller who’d been active since 2006 with 899 feedbacks at 100%, so I felt reassured by that.

The inside of the slipcase has ‘Tester Demonstration’ printed diagonally in rows covering the whole inside. It has the same words embossed on the cap of the bottle.

They’re like the 10ml tester bottles in proportion, but obviously just bigger.

They smell like the real thing. And the quality of the printing looks legit.

Ah that’s cool. Sounds like you’ve got some winners there. If the feedback is solid, then all good.

I’ve been stung a couple of times. Got refunds on both occasions though. D’oh!

Damn it.

I’m not sure now. I’m in two minds.

Too good to be true.

So probably fake, right?

I was so happy with my purchases. Oh well. They smell very nice.

Tbh it’s all in the smell. Most fakes smell watered down and awful.

What are the bottle sizes?

33 ml

General consensus online is that Tom Ford don’t do testers.

Sounds to me like they might be TF decants of original Private Blend fragrances. If the feedback is good, I’d say you’ve got nothing to worry about.

I’d check in with the seller though.

Sorry for planting any doubt. Didn’t mean to piss on your chips. Just wanted to make sure you’d got the real deal.

I suppose the realisation that I’ve been had off (played out on a public forum) is probably quite an apt or useful addition to this thread.

I’m far too old and experienced to be falling for this sh*t (evidently not).

Oh well. Live and learn.

If only everything was as simple as record buying (please don’t tell me about bootlegs - I don’t want to know).

Ah mate. Seriously? You 100%? Have you contacted the seller? Gutted for you.

It’s easily done, particularly when you’ve got so much positive feedback to put your confidence in. It’s a horrible feeling. Really sorry.

If you bought them through eBay you’ll be protected though right?

Edit: Check your DMs.

Yes, I’ve searched around. Found another seller with the same bottles and similarly low prices. He’s got recent feedback saying ‘fake’ etc.

My seller claimed they were French testers.

When I suggested that wasn’t a particularly compelling explanation, he offered me a refund or discount if I wanted to keep them.

I’ll get a refund.

Yeah refund all the way.

just back from a little solo trip to Melbourne. made the effort to track down Australia’s one Profumum Roma stockist and far out @Moodynann thanks for the hot tip. Ambre Aurea a big hit with the lady who was given it and I’m now a Thundra boy (it was between that and Victrix out if the dozen or so I tested).

Ah that’s great. They’re long lasting fragrances too. Ambra Aurea is a cracking amber. Victrix is in my top ten. Brilliantly herbal.

Thundra is a great signature scent too!
