On Yer Bike - The Cycling Thread

I can’t recommend Bromptons highly enough! I bought one second hand, as my job at the time wouldn’t let me bring a road bike into the office. 9 years laters I am still amazed at how much use I get out of it! Going to the pub, grabbing shopping, putting it on the bus/ train at the end of the day if I’m too tired/ weather too bad to cycle home.

Plus they don’t take up that much space to store and I’m told they hold their value well, should you come to sell.
While they may look a bit silly - they are great fun to whiz around on!

I resisted getting one for years, but having tried lots of other foldies, they are worth every penny.

How are they for longer rides, more than a handful of miles?

Yeah pretty good, depending on terrain. Longest ride I have done on mine was 15km. I have the 3sp version and it’s quite old now. Think the newer models are lighter. I did look into the titanium one a while back, but funds don’t allow.

I’ve ridden some nice foldups in the past. I happily put some km on one of the early Terns, it rode great!

Anybody have any thoughts on the Tour De France 2024?

Can’t see much other than a big GC duel between Pagacar and Vingegaard (doubts about his fitness coming into this seem to be wide of the mark), but hope that the new comer Remco Evenepoel can justify the hype and make it a three way tussle.

Just hoping Cavendish can break Merckx’ record. Would be and incredible achievement in modern cycling.

That’s a fair assessment of the GC. Definitely a two horse race and I’m surprised how strong Vingegaard looked yesterday. He’s likely to get better as the race goes on but the doubts should still remain given how bad the injuries were from his crash back in April. Would love pogacar to win the double given that it’s such a rare feat but I’m starting to think Ving migh win his third tour this year.

The rest of the race is always intriguing with stages and other jerseys up for grabs. Much as I’d love him to, I can’t see Cav winning another stage. He’s looked wasted the last couple of days. Will be good to watch and find out though.

I haven’t caught up on the start of the men’s race yet, but am heading out to Rotterdam next month to watch the first two stages of the women’s race. :yellow_heart:

Minirig! They are amaze-balls! Superb quality sound and they fit into a 10cm diameter snack holder bag. I can post a photo if you’re interested. I get my bag made by a lady in Ukraine and it works a treat to hold the minirig in place.

My company sponsors a team and we got our first yellow jersey the other day. Cue absolute joy and bedlam in the office.

That must’ve been brilliant. DSM or Firmenech? Or EF Education?

I work for EF
