Poking my head in here.
I ride bikes, not as much as I used to / would like to, road/cyclocross/cargo bike/minivelo thing round SE London.

I’ve got into cycling over the last year via the city bike scheme here but obv means you’re at the mercy of shitty drivers (or more often other riders, e-scooters, esp delivery guys who creep up by stealth and think they own the lanes), unavailable docking, unavailable bikes, poor quality bikes, clunky gears, wonky seats, sometimes dangerously so (am guessing a similar story in all cities?) and a constant pressure not to go over 30 mins before the meter starts ticking. So it’s fun when it’s fun but a faff at times.

Is that Porty beach Chris?

Broughty Ferry beach in Dundee mate. I’m lucky enough to live right next to it :pray:t3:

Looks amazing that mate, not a bad way to start the day

I’m finding it a great help for the day ahead mentally, and also for getting to sleep at night so it’s a win win

I grew up with Kieran, he’s from my estate and we used to ride the local skatepark. Known him since he was 4 years old and even at such a young age he was absolutely fearless. So surreal to see him win an Olympic silver medal! Amazing scenes

Cycling is probably the only exercise (as a middle aged person) that I actually look forward to. It just feels ‘right’ and as soon as I start pedalling it just clicks right into place. It’s also a great headspace.

That is absolutely stunning…is there a dedicated trail or bike path?

Yes, there is. It’s part of the National Cycle Route 1. We’re so lucky we have this, this is the route along the beach for cycling. It carries on for miles either way in some form with little main road involvement

There’s lots of lovely low traffic back roads all over up here too, you could do worse than bring the bikes up and plan some rides mate

This does look like a great trip though! Maybe one day. What kind of dog did you get out of interest?

My nerdy utility vehicle, in gig mode.

After some recommendations for a hybrid. I have a classic “Dutch” bike that’s served me for years riding around town. Interested in something that’s still first and foremost for commuting, but could also do a day trip.
