The filter and LFO on the Spring Amp gets you into King Tubby Big Knob territory, that was the clincher for me
I was tempted a while back - how much is the whole set up?
And does it have an on/off switch?
The Spring Amp III was £376.99 from Juno (with a discount asking for better price on the chat) and the Accutronics reverb tank was £40 from Reggae Roast (Juno didn’t have any, but now back in stock).
So not cheap, and it’s a one trick pony I suppose compared with other Reverb pedals/units. But I suppose it does sound authentic!
Comes with a 12v PSU and no on/off!
I don’t think any of benidub’s gear comes with an off switch.
Édit: It’s made in Barça where they don’t do off switches!
No, just PSU in. Shame as I keep losing the jack down the back of the desk
Yes, does my head in. Constantly under my desk trying to find it.
Put the rhythm and piano loop down super quick then spent some time dubbing it up and trying to find a bassline to fit. Anyway, keeps me out of the boozer
Anyone using Guadio for splitting stems? Pretty good! Here’s my take on the bassline for Dub Syndicate Mafia!
Mui bueno! I haven’t used that stem splitter, but I’ve used lalal.ai which worked pretty well too. It’s bonkers how good these things are getting.
Yeah! Definitely a few artefacts here and there but the drums were spot on! Annoyingly the stems don’t line up though when you add them into Ableton so plenty of work to adjust the timing…
Never used any of these as I’m sceptical on the quality, but maybe need to have a proper look.
Sounds great
Thanks!
Love it, Jason
That Big Six is very tempting. Just don’t know if I can justify the outlay, but then…
Wicked! Nice one. Sounding good.
Cheers!
Thanks! It has some limitations which force you to adjust your work flow, but I actually find it kind of inspiring. My biggest ask would be a couple more stereo channels (as I’m losing two for use as FX returns) and a couple more FX cues/sends.
I’ve just discovered sending the filter to the B bus and returning it to a mono channel, so that’s another channel lost. Which means in terms of using it like I am in the video, you have to choose what you’re OK having on the same mix buss and sending that out to a channel. Couple of different hat patterns sent to the same channel, guitar (not actually in the video) and skanks etc.
So it’s best for sending out bussed stems and recording the return channels back into the DAW. Can be a bit of of headache to remember what’s going on at every stage of the process (I really should write it down as every session I’m spending half an hour pushing buttons and wondering why something isn’t working ) but I like the limitations overall!
