Is it online anywhere? I dont think Ive ever heard it.
I’ll do you a rip if you want.
I stand to be corrected but feels like the BBC just show the safe stuff. I want to see the mad shit on the outer limits. ex-tory ministers in kaftans chomping philosopher’s stones, grannies losing their minds to grindcore, druids playing rummy
100% rent a crowd… There’s no way anyone could have walked out to the flag like Skinner did last night in a normal squash to the front gig years ago…
Yeah I say the same every year. The Beeb should do a section on all the outer fringes stuff. Anyone whose not been will just think Glastonbury is the three main stages when its so much more than that. You could actually go and not experience any music all weekend there so much other random stuff going on
Actual lol
That would be great, thankyou. ![]()
No worries will sort later after the match.
The genius of coldplay is that 10-15 years ago they shrewdly spotted a gap in the market for a new U2-inspired stadium messianic saviour act that was instantly accessible across borders. It’s particularly big in non-English speaking countries because there are a lot of oos, aas and yeahs and no complicated lyrics, whilst squarely pitched at crowds who enjoy waving candles or sparklers at night. I used to find it bizarre that they were teaming up with avicci or whoever but on closer inspection it does make sense because it taps into that communal experience where everyone in the crowd is deeply moved but for no apparent reason.

I tried to put my cynicism aside also, but it returned within seconds with a hunting knife between its teeth.
It was like watching the Jesus Army on acid. Not for me.
There was a few lull’s in the crowd when people didn’t know what to do…
Now that says it all, no further comment needed.
Coldplay is one of those ones where I have no interest in anything they do but still recognise 2 songs by them just by virtue of having been alive for the last 25 years.
What I saw of The Streets was pretty bad tbh, he definitely still has an audience that his songs strike a chord with but his stuff is very “of its time” (enjoyed some of his first album when it dropped but cant imagine playing it now) and I cant believe he’s milked it for this long so fairplay I s’pose
Simz is a strange one to me. Great performer in a genre where so many struggle with their breath control and commanding a stage that big, but her music just doesn’t do it for me at all. Each song sounded a bit too much like that last one and it’s all a bit forgettable. Seems like everyone rates her - very big amongst the The Guardian “I don’t usually like Hip Hop but…” crowd - so must just be me I guess.
Paul Heaton still the best thing I watched this weekend.
Agree on most of that apart from Paul Heaton
Here you go. Few pops and crackles but should be a passable rip.
I quite liked the Housemartins as a teenager-But the Beautiful South was just awful imo. That said Paul Heaton seems like a nice bloke and he has an enviable vintage crisp packet collection if that’s your thing.
Heaton isn’t someone I listen to, and I don’t listen to any music like that all to be honest! Got fond memories of older cousins playing The Housemartins and Beautiful South though so maybe that’s it.
Sometimes you’re just in the right mood for something and I was quite happy on the sofa with a beer for his whole set. Just found it quite engaging and he seems like a very genuine bloke which comes across in his music.
Caught a bit of LCD Soundsystem and although I know the name I honestly couldn’t tell you what any of their stuff sounds like or name one of their songs. Remember them being mentioned a lot years ago.
Anyway, I thought they were shite but the comments here and on Twitter suggests a ton of people loved it. Takes them back to good times I guess and can’t argue with that. Not for me though Clive. Sounds like the Whitest music ever.
