I was not too far behind you in 206 for the Madrid game. Yesterday must have been great!

BTW, if any London-based Liverpool fans on here then The Stapleton Tavern in Crouch Hill is a great pub to watch the match in. Must have been 50+ reds in there yesterday.

FIFA as bad as FIA, how are they allowed to get away with it, that press thing was a joke, searing piece in the Guard…

The Guardian always rail against this kind of thing, and rightly so, but then still provide full coverage of the tournament.

I understand that they almost have to cover it, but the only way things will change is if players/national associations, media + advertisers carry out an actual boycott, and thats highly unlikely.

To be honest I can understand players being reluctant to boycott as the opportunity to represent your country at a world cup doesn’t come often.

Gary Neville on the other hand…

FIFA could and would take direct action too. They can ban players who refuse to participate in their tournaments, effectively refusing to register them for any football. They could sanction clubs and associations that refuse to enforce any ban.

FIFA have everyone’s nuts in a perpetual vice until associations make a euro super league type breakaway. Such a move would be difficult to coordinate without FIFA becoming aware at an early planning stage and is likely to fold quicker than that the super league did. Rebel associations would be isolated and out of international football for good.

FIFA needs to be changed from the inside but it appears to be governed by self interested, corrupt arseholes rather than people with morals and principles, so that’s not happening anytime soon.
