It was it was really. I just decided it wasn’t for me and moved on. I’ve met loads of guys from Faith since then and a lot of it was keyboard warrior stuff and tribalism. This is probably the first message board that doesn’t have every thread descend into arguments and its refreshing.
And if we did speak at 'Nado I apologise for being barely coherent. Good times but generally the weekends started by playing records at Dry with Hughesy and then snowballed - literally - to being very broken at 'Nado. Loved every minute though.
They obviously targeted frustrated and disengaged youth and all that, but the “i was young and didnt know any better” excuse doesnt really wash if you then revert to type 40 years later
Some of this libertarian nonsense was baked in from the start - Paul Staines/ Guido Fawkes organised the Freedom to Party movement. And all that fun stuff about clubs being temporary autonomous zones is lovely but easily co opted into the current notion that freedom is freedom from being vaccinated or wearing a mask or paying taxes or giving a shit about anyone else. Same as it ever was - Music and the culture around it can express political ideas and work for a few to liberate them from the structures of power but it isnt itself enough
I put Jefferson on a couple of times and went in the booth once to find him with records all over the place, on the floor being trodden on, some out of their sleeves.
