I met his years ago in Taiwan just before he did that gig with Jose Padilla, Frankie Knuckles and himself retiring. He seemed lovely at the time but obviously gone south since. Is Terry Farley still sprouting off about āthe moslemsā or has that stopped?

I didnt go to house nights back in the day, so the only time ive seen Rampling DJ was at a do at Centre Point in 2010. Joey Negro played and that was enjoyable, but you could definitely tell DR had lost his way as a DJ by that point.
Novel if slightly weird venue too. Nice being up on the 30th floor overlooking the city as night became day, but also had a bit of a wedding reception/corporate function feel about it. The smokers werenāt feeling getting the lift down everytime they needed a puff either.
Rampling is certainly no outlier and iād wager there are many others too who share his thinking, teds, a few ex-hoolies maybe, people who were never as invested as the cooler style kids
Was there a specific point where the acid house tribes āsplitā or was it a gradual drifting apart? The 50-60 somethings into clockwork reunions or āback to 95ā events seem miles apart from the people of similar age whoād say go to Lowlife or ALFOS.
Not meant to be a snobbish dig, just wondering if there was a political divergence aligned with musical divergence or a wild generalisation?

Iāve had this ādebateā with a few folk over the years. Can you truly call yourself acid house if youāre right-wing? Seems that there are/were plenty out there who just liked the music, rather than the philosophy. Seems to be mainly the old soul boys that crossed over that have reverted to type, rather than the later generation that fully embraced the lifestyle.

Lost track of the number of soul forums & facebook pages Iāve had to jog on from due to general gammon behaviour - fortunately less prevalent in the acid house community but by no means unheard of, my next door neighbour was at castle Morton but called the behaviour of the activists who pulled down Colstons statue āunacceptable vandalismā and another acquaintance who used to run a big jungle night in the south west recently treated me to a transphobic rant.
Lets be honest, thereās a largely pig ignorant right wing majority out there on a lot of cultural issues and itās seems people drift towards it as they get older, if they didnāt start there in the first place.
Fuck em.
