Bought a pair of Paraboot Michael’s a few weeks ago, fancied them for a while now so decided to treat myself. F**k me, they take a bit of wearing in. Made the mistake of wearing them to work a few days ago (thought they were starting to yield after being worn around the house), felt like my feet had been in bear traps all day. I thought Redwings were hard to break in, these are different league.
What is anybody else’s experience? Looking for light at the end of the tunnel here (cutting my losses and sticking them on Vinted has felt quite attractive at times).

Blast the insides with a warm hair dryer and wear them in the house for half an hour to an hour a couple times! You don’t even need to walk about in them just have them on your feet so the leather loosens up.
I can’t get on with the Michaels either despite trying various sizes. My heel slips around and I really need to clamp down on the laces
I’ve found the Chambord and Villandry models to fit much better so worth trying those

Trickers brogue boots are hell on Earth. Even after a fair amount of wear over a few years they hurt me in places I didn’t even know existed
Be careful shoving your feet into shoes that hurt. I’ve spent years doing it and have ended up spending a fortune on custom made insoles that distribute the weight better. I also have to now buy trainers/shoes that have a wide fit. My podiatrist told me I need to retire my church’s (3 pairs) for some wide fitting formal shoes from Clarks. While I love a desert boot from Clarks the thought of wearing Clarks formal shoes is not something I relish…

ah the pain that comes with style… an old sneakerhead put me onto these a long time ago, and I’ve used them successfully for notoriously thin fits: asics gel lyte 3, converse JP, huarache, gazelle (all mostly leather/suede btw)
it usually took 3-6 weeks of daily adjustment to get a final snug fit, which can be infuriating especially after finding the damn things, then waiting for postage.
but, the heart wants what the heart wants

Ha - flashback to a machine in clarks when I was a kid that you put your foot in and it came in from all sides to get the right fit. The peak of tech!

Those anxious pangs weren’t helped by being dragged into the Clark’s shop by your mum at the end of the summer holidays for a new pair of school shoes. It was pre Clark’s cool days!!

exactly, other options not allowed in those days! was a massive step when managed to graduate to kickers as a 13 year old.
kids these days don’t know how lucky they are - my 19 year old never worn a pair of shoes in his life!

I desperately wanted kickers but mum told me they were too expensive for school. Found a pair on sale one day and snapped them up…only 2 sizes too big…they used to fall off my feet running across the playground
