New Phantom Island incoming

This was a Dubwise recommendation, also available on Bandcamp. Really nice blend of dub/trip hop/kraut vibes. If you like this kind of thing, you’ll love this.

Not sure about the vocal version with Ranking Joe, but I’m loving this

Tasteful version of the classic.

“Now it’s the turn of Klangkollektor, indulging a collection of hazy dub excursions which sit somewhere near Balearic splendour, piano-charged melancholy and isolation tank meditation. In the dub tradition the approach is consistent and evenly paced, but it’s certainly not aiming for any kind of typical Jamaican sound. Instead, there’s a gentle introspection to the melodic content which gels perfectly with the spacious approach to mixing, unfurling across four sides of wax for an album you can just melt into.” - Juno

SO good

Vibe.

Edit: it seems this has surfaced as the Idjuts dropped it at Rotation.

Beautiful 3 hour mix of floaty vibes.

Highly recommend grabbing the whole zikzak series. Epic, all of 'em. And all free.

I’m not sure who I thought the ‘writing about music is like dancing about architecture’ quote was attributed to, but according to a quick search, it was possibly originated by a musical comedian I’ve never heard of, Martin Mull.

Anyway, I’ve been giving it a go, with some short blurbs for The Rutan releases.

He makes sample-based electronic music and I think he’s an expert at building tracks around dubbed-out vocal snippets.

If you like Sun-Ra / dub / hip hop / electro / jazz / electronic music (which is pretty much everyone, right?) then you might find something you like on this EP…
