I think Checkpoint Charlie was the first time I heard Weatherall play ! A very special place for me for a number of reasons.
Ditto, and Laurent Garnier too.
Coincidentally Neville Watson has just posted some pics/memories

M. Garnier has announced his retirement from the DJing world. A well earned one it is too.
Sounds like Checkpoint Charlie may deserve its own thread and don’t want to derail this one
I’m pretty sure that show or many of the ones AW did on Kiss were produced by Alan Russell of Hott Records/Black Vinyl.
Re Sabres label loved Ooh Baby and SK’s Kris Needs in Echoes was one of the only journalists to give breakbeat/hardcore some respect, as well as pushing techno, trance etc. Alan Russell wrote for them as well.
His twitter is ace
Yeah I linked it on the insta
Superb!
Just been looking through the tributes folder on the weatherdrive and just the sheer number of them shows how much he was loved.
Martin Brannagan has 2 in there that look interesting, one of original productions, and one of remixes, with one track for each year from 89 onwards.
TFE posted a link to Richie Hawtins debut Sabresonic set earlier today.
